We're back in Budapest! Because Wizz Air is the best - ;)
We're back in Budapest! Because Wizz Air is the best - ;) So the travel fail saga continues. This morning at a café, I was gifted a cup of coffee and a belief in the kindness of the world, but by evening, the balance of good and bad was restored when I was denied boarding. I was supposed to fly to Moscow with a layover in Budapest, but it turned out that the flight wasn't a transit one, and without a Schengen visa, I was stuck at the boarding queue. It was quite amusing standing near the entrance, waiting for them to discuss my situation and then not understanding why the airplane doors were closing, only to hear a surprisingly affirmative "but you’re not flying!" No one ended up willing to help me; representatives from low-cost carrier Wizz Air just led me to the information desk, where I discovered there are no direct flights from Luton to Moscow, not even as a transit option. At 10 PM, I was frantically searching for options online while I still had some battery left on my laptop, spotting the only direct flights for $930 from a different airport, and all I could do was laugh and pay.
A decent airline with friendly staff and vibrant aircraft.
A decent airline with friendly staff and vibrant aircraft. Wizz Air finally got us to Warsaw, although with a 2-hour delay...
I would never fly with Wizz Air again! Our engine wouldn't start, and we couldn't take off! Even two bottles of wine didn't help to calm down.

I'm slowly getting over our trip, and as I promised, I'll share a bit about it. Overall, we tried to save as much as possible during our travels. The first place we decided to cut costs was on flights, so we bought our tickets in advance and flew with low-cost airlines. ✈️ We flew to Budapest and Eindhoven with the Hungarian airline Wizz Air. One downside is that they fly out of Moscow, so we had to take a train to reach the city. ✈️ Everyone knows the downside of budget airlines—baggage. We had to pay extra for our suitcase, but be sure to do this in advance: it's more expensive at the airport. We also had a stroller that we checked at the gate, along with two carry-on bags that we had to manage. I'll forever remember the magical dimensions of 42*32*25, which meant I had to downsize my backpack.

It felt like they were charging for every little thing (typical of a low-cost airline), and to top it off, there were some rude staff members at check-in.
