I mean, I felt like I was in a snow globe ☃️☃️☃️. This is just an outrageous cold for our subtropics 🌏.
So, fellow tourists who showed up this week, let’s face it: Who can resist the winter chill ❄️☃️ and how does it even come to us? 😅🧐😄 »
Yes, you heard it right, it's quite chilly in Hong Kong, and there are even little frozen puddles on the street and water in our pipes 😂 (and those pipes are all on the street).
In winter, it can get really cold in Hong Kong; for instance, last night it was +41°F with 80% humidity. At home, it feels like a guesthouse during this moment—like a Snow Queen's suite 🤣.
How do we save ourselves from the cold in the subtropics, without heating and heating blankets?
🏡 A round-the-clock working air purifier.
🏡 Two heaters providing essential heat.
🏡 A hot water bottle in bed.
🏡 Cozy home slippers.
🏡 We also put a heater in the bathroom.
🏡 A winter pajama under the down blanket.
🏡 In pockets, warming packs are a must (they're sold like this too 🤷♀️).
🏡 A face mask for warmth (not a medical one).
🏡 A plaid scarf to wrap up completely.
🏡 Snacks and hot drinks with ginger.
I bundled up in two sweaters, got myself some tea, and tackled my to-do list!
I hope it doesn't rain...
Wishing everyone a great day! Don’t freeze! »
A view from Victoria Peak during winter time 😄
In Hong Kong, ideal winter visibility is rare; there's always a light haze in the air, creating a unique enchantment in the city. The high humidity, rapid temperature changes, and weather cycles give this distinct effect 🌈.
In recent years, there's often a smog coming from mainland China... locals are even warning about it 😿. The "haze of awakening" sometimes brings a peculiar smell... sad, right? 😭
During this period, people tend to go out less often, wearing masks and actively discussing the situation on forums and groups 😅. Hongkongers are truly unique individuals 😍.
However, we don't detach ourselves from it 😁. The ocean breeze helps to manage all that murky air 😄. »
