Getting Around
Taxi
In Ho Chi Minh City, Grab taxis are widely available 24/7 and fare starts around 10,000 VND, but always check for surge pricing during rush hours. For a smooth ride, use the app to track your route and share live location with someone for added safety.
On Foot
Walking throughout Ho Chi Minh City is free, but be sure to stick to the sidewalks along main roads like Le Loi and Nguyen Hue, as they can get crowded with motorbikes and vendors; stay alert for sudden traffic. Insider tip: explore alleys and side streets to discover hidden cafes and street food stalls while enjoying a more local atmosphere.

« If you're in Ho Chi Minh City, definitely check out the Bitexco Tower. There’s an observation deck with a great view of the city. »
« I really enjoyed the tree sculptures in Ho Chi Minh City park. They're so amusing!))) »
« Ho Chi Minh City again from the airplane! So far, I'm really enjoying it! Two days of adventures!!! »
« Hey ho, I’m in Ho Chi Minh City :) I arrived yesterday, but I fell asleep in the middle of my comment. So, first impressions in short: there are pedestrian walkways here that aren’t taken over by shops and cafes. Lots of greenery, wide streets, locals speak English, tourists are everywhere, and there are hundreds of cafes and shops with beautiful clothes (thank goodness the memories of packing my backpack are still fresh). In short, Ho Chi Minh City feels like a more urban city compared to Hanoi))) »
« Saigon surprised me. I thought it would be like a village for some reason. It's definitely filled with contrasts, just like everywhere in Asia, but it leaves a pleasant impression. »
« What strikes you in Ho Chi Minh City, and really all of Vietnam, right away? The road hustle! The traffic here isn’t like in India (where there isn't even a single law of logic); it's conscious but completely rule-less. From the outside, it looks like chaos, but as an experienced rider of Asian sports bikes, I can say that everyone knows exactly what they're doing; they just aren’t inclined to follow any rules. Since scooters are the most popular mode of transport in this part of Asia, nearly everyone grows up with a bike and feels confident in any situation. When you see the wildness of the traffic, remember, it's actually a well-organized environment that responds instantly to changes. Just relax, it's Asia! 👍 »
« After 40 years, Ho Chi Minh City (and all of Vietnam) is developing quite well – it's filled with Americans again, but this time they're here to do business, not war. Ho Chi Minh is home to many well-known hotel chains, and the skyscrapers are sprouting up like mushrooms. One of the main attractions here is the Bitexco Tower observation deck on the 49th floor. The views are stunning! Sure, they could have made it an open-air deck, but that's just a small detail. The platform offers a 360-degree view, which means you can see everything around you. The view of the Mekong River is a bit dull, but the cityscape is incredible! One of the best features here, which is often lacking in such places, is the stationary binoculars! You can literally peek into people's windows or study the tense faces of drivers at intersections. Really cool! The café at the top, however, is not worth it – the food is bland, the windows are dirty, and the prices are high 😬 I really enjoyed the observation deck, although having that personal view from a room would have been even cooler 😹😼 »
« Ho Chi Minh City is an intriguing place, colorful, sometimes perplexing, but full of soul. »
« Ho Chi Minh City is amazing, as soon as we stepped off the plane, we were completely immersed in the vibe of the city and maybe even fell a little in love! Tomorrow we will check our feelings ❤️ »
« Let me share a bit about Vietnam! I'm currently in Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon). My impressions are a bit mixed; it’s a very lively city, but the locals don’t seem particularly friendly. The country feels poorer than Thailand, and you can notice that almost instantly! Here, it seems like every Vietnamese person is looking to make a profit off you. »
« Ho Chi Minh City doesn't cut it for me. I want to be in Mui Ne! Missing it... »
« Nothing out of the ordinary, the guy is just sleeping. In Vietnam, they're so incredibly flexible that even Olympic medalists would be envious! They can sleep anywhere, eat, and just relax. We could really use people like this for life drawing... Gorgeous! »
« Vietnamese grandpa sends you sunny greetings from Saigon! ☀️ »
