« Antwerp turned out to be the friendliest city on this trip, despite the chilly weather. Two young guys, who helped us light a candle, assured us that Antwerp is the best city in Belgium, indeed in the world. A lovely couple helped us navigate purchasing metro tickets, and one gentleman with a kind demeanor even stopped to inform us about Belgium's immigration policies while we were near the station.
Fortunately, the absence of metro tickets in Antwerp isn't a big deal. You can always buy a ticket from the staff even at the end of your journey.
Overall, Antwerp showed us its unique charm, served with a sprinkle of French flair, and the locals spoke fluent English with a broad smile. 😊 »
« Strolling through the streets of Antwerp, you will see not one but a few of the most iconic church towers that stand out among the buildings. But it’s only when you step into the courtyard that your eyes will be greeted by the stunning architecture of the world of Baroque!
Last time, I stumbled upon the church of Saint Charles Borromeo, with its magnificent facade and equally impressive interior decor. This time, I discovered the church of Saint Paul. Surrounded by all sides, you will find an open garden with 63 statues symbolizing the Apostles.
It’s a must to step inside the church! Here, just like throughout Antwerp, you’ll find collections of paintings by Rubens, and there’s also a stunning 17th-century organ! Honestly, I just recommend you see this famous place with your own eyes rather than just hearing about it. 😊 »
« I fell so in love with this city that I even got a bit lost, just gazing around. Antwerp, Belgium. »
« It might sound a bit odd, but I found Antwerp far less charming than Bruges or Ghent. There were just too many people everywhere! Lines at stores stretched with 20 people waiting at the checkout, the streets in the center felt like rush hour in a busy city, and there was quite a bit of litter just lying around. It reminded me of the central square on the morning of January 1st. »
« Antwerp left a deep impression on me with its unique architecture and the special energy of old Europe. 🌍✨ »
