« Budapest is a unique spa city in Europe, known for its hundreds of mineral springs. 🧖♀️💧 Among the most popular are the Széchenyi, Gellért, Rudas, and Király baths, offering a range of experiences, from historical to modern, with massages, saunas, Turkish baths, and late-night swimming options – you'll find something to suit every taste and budget.
Our choice was undoubtedly the most beautiful spa in Budapest, Gellért. The architecture of this therapeutic resort is stunning, reminiscent of ancient Roman baths: a complex adorned with various glass mosaics, elegant basins, and beautiful columns. (The price of a day ticket is approximately 18 € compared to other smaller baths, where entry prices range from 7-12 €). The spring waters, sourced from the depths of the Gellért Hill, ensure a wonderful bathing experience. Currently, the Gellért spa boasts 8 thermal basins with temperatures ranging from 26 to 38 degrees, along with various aqua aerobics activities every hour, sauna, steam room, and an 80-degree Finnish sauna with an ice barrel outside. And newly added is a cozy thermal basin, so you can instantly feel like a new person after just 15 minutes in there. 😅💦👩🦰💫 »

Metro rides and local transportation cost around $1. Interestingly, there are no ticket machines in the metro; you just have to take a token to enter. Occasionally, there are controllers checking for compliance with the rules.
As for dining in Budapest, it’s not too pricey either. To have a meal or grab a drink with wine or beer usually costs around $20 per person. In my next post, I’ll share the places we enjoyed the most.
And on the photo, it’s the museum of contemporary art. »

As of now, the exchange rate is approximately 100 Ft = $0.29. I usually carry both cash and a card. Practically, in 98% of cases, using a card for payment is accepted. 💳 »

This is the largest bath complex in Budapest and in all of Europe. It boasts thermal water sourced from the St. Gellért spring, located in the beautiful City Park. 🌳
In February, while the air temperature is around +1, the water temperature reaches a delightful +36 degrees. 🧖♀️ There are about 4500-5600 visitors depending on the time and selected package (either general admission or private).
The complex includes 15 indoor pools and 3 outdoor pools ☀️: jacuzzis, a flowing bath, a herbal sauna 🌿, a Finnish sauna, and taps with drinking mineral water. 💧
After a day exploring the sights, this truly is an excellent way to unwind! 🎉 »
Of course, everyone has their tastes and preferences, but I’ll share what we did and how it went, just in case it helps you in the future – a little keepsake for yourself. Originally, the plan was to go to Berlin, primarily to find an ideal place in Europe for budget travel, but after 15 minutes of analysis on a route we found online, we decided Budapest was the one.
We debated about getting a club membership for benefits but in the end we just bought tickets straight away since they were on sale. We booked an apartment for $218 for 5 nights for 5 people; it was comfortable with royal bedding. Honestly, I wouldn't have wanted to leave that apartment because it was so cozy.
Local wine is available at prices around $2 per bottle, and it’s pretty good! We came across a great local spot where you can enjoy delicious eats at fantastic prices. We lived in a Jewish quarter, just a 3-5 minute walk from some of the trendiest bars and ruin pubs. »
1) Bus 200E + metro 🚍
Bus 200E takes you to Kőbánya-Kispest metro station. This station is quite far from the center, so you’ll need to take a metro afterward. The cost of a single ticket for public transportation is 1.15 USD. You can buy tickets from the machine at the stop. Payment can be made in cash or by card. One nice feature of these machines is that they have an English option.
You must validate your tickets.
2) Bus 100E 🚐
It goes straight to Deák Ferenc tér, the city center, and costs 2.30 USD. There are only 4 stops along the route, and the journey takes about 40-60 minutes.
3) Taxi 🚖
P.S. If you arrive at night 🌙, you might consider taking bus 900.
What would you like to see in the next post - accessibility, sights, or food? 😄 »
The entrance for adults costs 2,500 forints, which is approximately $6.75.
It's best to arrive early in the morning, as the zoo operates until 4 PM, and the ticket office closes an hour earlier.
We managed to explore the entire zoo in about 3 hours.
The territory is vast and beautiful, with plenty of animals.
There are elephants 🐘, giraffes 🦒, meerkats, cheetahs, white bears, and sea lions — the only thing missing is a tiger!
It's worth noting that the animals are not enclosed in small cages, but have plenty of space to roam.
Also, I've heard that the water for the seals is sourced directly from a thermal spring, and this pair has already had a baby. 😎
So, you can be assured the animals are well taken care of! The conditions for their lives are genuinely excellent. 😍

Speaking of specifics: the salami is definitely of excellent quality and makes for a great souvenir. As for foie gras, a 200g jar will cost around $18, which is cheaper than in many places. Fruits and vegetables are fantastic and affordable. And the most intriguing part? Black sturgeon caviar - I'll save that for another post! 😊 »
We've said it before, and it's worth repeating: Budapest is one of the best options for budget travel to Europe. Round-trip flights are around $50-$70. The city is well-branded, which adds to its charm. It's beautiful, and the prices there are lower than in many other European cities. »
