« – Abu Dhabi, the corniche
Without dwelling too long on the fact that we didn't make it to Emirates Palace, we decided to wander around Abu Dhabi and explore it from a perspective that's unknown to most tourists.
The first thing we stumbled upon was the corniche. Strolling there was an absolute pleasure, thanks to the convenient pedestrian walkway, which is quite rare in the Emirates. Open beaches, numerous benches, and luxurious palm trees created a lovely urban promenade.
On the other side of the street stood beautiful skyscrapers. There aren’t as many as in Dubai, but we really liked them. There’s something truly majestic about them.
Turning onto one of the side streets, we discovered a small, charming park filled with plenty of benches, gazebos, and recreation areas… They even had barbecue pits, which we had never seen before. I can’t quite recall exactly where this park is located, but if you take a stroll along the Abu Dhabi corniche near Emirates Palace, which I highly recommend, you’ll find it. Even without that, there’s plenty to see.
Another interesting aspect is the very limited number of stores with any food. There are lots of cafes and restaurants, but we wanted to buy something for take away. In the end, we found a tiny supermarket after wandering for about 30 minutes through the maze of streets. So, it’s probably better to uncover the mysteries of the capital when you’re not hungry, or just have a meal in a cafe. 😊 »
