« 🙌 Fes – the oldest city in Morocco that definitely deserves your attention, as it is a cultural and religious center of the country. In my opinion, three days are enough to explore the city fully.

🕌 One must-see is the Fes Boujloud Gate, the main entrance to the old medina and the symbol of the city.

🏛️ The Old Medina of Fes–el-Bali is considered the largest in the world. It features around 9,400 alleys, several squares, and more than 200 mosques. Allow yourself to get lost in this labyrinth! The entrance can be found near the magnificent Blue Gate, and it's impossible to miss because it’s full of life and attracts tourists. 🙏 In the Old Medina, you can visit the Royal Palace, the former Arsenal, the Jardin Jnan Sbil, the Museum of Arts and Traditions of Fes, located on the grounds of the beautiful 19th-century palace.

😓 Unfortunately, entry to the key mosques for non-Muslims is prohibited, but you can enjoy the beauty of the Eastern architecture in the Madrasa Al-Attarine (that’s where I took my calligraphy and geometry photos). The entrance fee is only 20 dirhams, roughly $2.

❤️ In the Old Medina, our attention is captured by the Jewish Quarter and the Mellah market at the Bab Semmarine gate.

📜 One of the most important places in Fes is the Al-Karaouine University, recognized as the oldest existing degree-granting university in the world. Interestingly, it was founded by a Muslim woman! For anyone who aspires to knowledge and respects science, it’s crucial to visit this remarkable place.

🍷 The city is growing and evolving, attracting tourists for its architecture, history, but it can also be interesting for those who want to see the real lives of Moroccans.

💙 I hope I’ve inspired you with my story, and Fes ends up on your list of places to visit. »

« Why you shouldn't trust popular travel sites and double-check all the information.😒

😱 Interestingly, much of the information on these popular resources doesn't align with reality. Checked it myself.

✈️ Before my trip to Marrakech, I learned that getting from Fes Airport to the city could cost me as little as 20 dirhams by bus or 120 dirhams by taxi (which is about $12 to $34). Incredible!

🚍 A bus to the city costs 4 dirhams! FOUR, my friends! Where are those amazing sites getting their information from? They must be pulling it out of thin air! 😤

Now, about the airport:

🔹 You must definitely change some local currency at the airport to cover your initial expenses. The exchange rate is actually quite decent, but it’s best to have cash on hand.
🔹 You can also rent a car at the airport, though I wouldn’t recommend it. Why? Driving around here is a nightmare, and you could wreck the car in the first five minutes!
🔹 One good thing: you can get free SIM cards from local providers for around €5. Super convenient! And by the way, the Internet here is excellent.

✈️ Fes-Saïss Airport is about 15 kilometers from the city. The best way to get to Marrakech is by taking bus number 16. You already got the price a while back. Finding the bus is easy—just leave the airport and head right, and it will stop close by. None of the stops are announced, so be sure to ask the driver or locals for help. You’ll want to get off at the railroad station in Marrakech.

🚏 As for taxis, the price of 120 dirhams is not accurate! I bought a sim card for 60 dirhams, yet they suggest taxis for 120! It’s possible the taxi drivers will try to charge over 200 dirhams, but don’t budge, negotiate up to the last penny. I’d say a fair price would be somewhere around 50-70 dirhams.

🙅‍♂️ Don’t wander off too far! Tomorrow you’ll hear a gripping tale of my bus ride. If I were writing a book, it would have a whole chapter dedicated to it! 😂😂😂 »

« In Ufa, you can rent something truly awful, as well as something quite splendid in an Eastern style. In Chefchaouen, we stayed in a place called "The Blue Marakan," while our current home is "The Wealthy Marakan." It’s amusing how the price difference is just €15. The first floor features a common area, the second has a bathroom, the third has a bedroom with two beds, the fourth is a kitchen, and the fifth has a charming bedroom and a lounge area with couches and tables, complete with elegant windows - truly delightful. I feel like a sultan in a sultan’s harem ;)

From the window on the fifth floor, there's a view of a cat lounging around as it passes by at that time! :) »
