« Today I spent the whole day on two wheels. What a joy it is to ride on a smooth road after the roughness of the previous place! You just pedal away, no stress, and you could keep going forever! And the bike I got was really awesome, nothing like the previous clunker. By the way, the deposit was only $20, so it would have been great to stock up on a bike if I weren't flying home! 😄 »

« This is the Grand Canyon near Chiang Mai. They used to mine something here, then abandoned it, and the locals (smart move) started spending their leisure time here. Regularly, someone gets into trouble or drowns, so enterprising folks have cordoned off the most dangerous spots with ropes, set up a rental for life jackets, and established a food court. Now the entrance fee is 1.50 USD :) »

« Chiang Mai captivated me from the very first glance, although I already knew we would become friends. At six in the morning, I got off the bus and had coffee at McDonald's because it was still dark and a bit intimidating to search for a hostel. But with the first rays of sunshine, I set off and couldn’t stop walking. In the end, I trekked five kilometers with my backpack (by the way, I named him Huancho 😊), until I finally reached a point where I couldn’t turn off the path to the hostel anymore. Speaking of the hostel, I wasn't really impressed; it felt too cramped (which isn't surprising for $2 a night). »

« Asian markets are among the most fascinating, vibrant, and colorful places. The further you stray from the tourist trails, the more emotions you'll experience at these markets. These aren't your typical bazaars filled with potatoes and apples; they are bustling spots where locals gather to chat, eat, laugh, and curiously glance at the occasional tourist. Here, you can buy everything! Trinkets that might turn out to be far better souvenirs than what you'll find in tourist spots, snakes that can be kept as pets or simply cooked for lunch, exotic fruits at "real" prices instead of marked-up rates, and indulge in unique culinary experiences that not every European stomach can handle. Plus, it's a visual feast of colors and the delightful smiles of friendly locals.

There's a market in Asia for every taste! Morning, night, 24-hour, flower, floating—so many varieties to explore! One of the main reasons to visit a market in Asia is to experience the real lives of its people, their mentality, and culture—exactly why we travel to new countries. »

« I finally satisfied my shopping cravings! I found a backpack and a waist bag at a military surplus store. They also sell full police gear, badges, batons, knives, and more. But for now, I settled on the bags. The prices were 980 baht and 380 baht, respectively (about $28 and $11). The waist bag can attach to the lower loops of the backpack, which is super convenient. Later at the market, I found motorcycle gloves for 180 baht, and in the morning, I bought an MP3 player for 120 baht with an 8GB micro SD card for 140 baht. I'm pretty satisfied. However, my main goal was to find a bicycle for mountain rides. I ended up walking 15 km because I took a wrong turn again and found nothing. Tomorrow, I'm going to grab a tandem bike... Will they let me through security with a bullet keychain? That's 50 baht! »
