« I'm sharing some insights about our trip expenses in Belgium 🇧🇪 and the Netherlands 🇳🇱. We handled all bookings ourselves and didn't go through a travel agency. We bought tickets and booked hotels separately. Tickets were typically around $100, while hotel bookings can be found on platforms that have various great deals; you can save quite a bit if you look. There are many budget flight options available, some with layovers and without meals included, so you can choose what fits your budget best. Everything depends on the airline ✈️.

Everything is quite expensive in Europe! Money seemed to disappear unexpectedly 😂, especially in Amsterdam, where public transport costs between $1.1 to $6! It’s definitely worth buying a travel pass for a few days. In Belgium, we managed just fine, as there were no hiccups 🤫. However, in Amsterdam, the metro efficiently got us around 🧑‍✈️. Museum tickets price range is about $11 to $32, but students generally enjoy discounts.

Grocery shopping will set you back about $11 to $33 for regular items 🛒. In general, bring whatever snacks you can 😊, we returned home with empty wallets, and our journey turned out not as budget-friendly as we had hoped 😅, but what matters is that we flew back feeling recharged and excited, and in 10 days, we’ll be off again to Sochi ❤️‍🔥✈️!

« Brussels Town Hall. So beautiful! How did we end up in Belgium? We were actually checking tickets to a completely different destination, but at that moment, Ryanair was having a promotion for their anniversary. The prices were ridiculously low, so we couldn't resist. In the end, we got round-trip tickets for just 2 euros. While heading to the airport, we totally rewired the route and the city. I’ll show you something interesting tomorrow! It feels like I'm a gypsy – constantly traveling, moving around, working, dragging a hundred kilos of luggage because every trip adds more shoes and bags. Italy, right? Or maybe I’m just a little bit quirky! 😄✨ »

« It's not really clear what you get for 1€. Or what they do... Or maybe it's all together... Or is it just a reflection of European reality... »

« A carriage tour in Bruges costs €41, and it's quite popular. By the way, in Brussels, it's €39. »

« 3€ and half an hour later, I found it! 😊 »

« Since this is not my first time in Brussels, I decided to visit the comic museum, which is actually a significant part of Belgian culture. It's a very informative museum. Here are a couple of cool comics. Throughout the city, there are buildings adorned with comic art. So I bought a map for $1. I'll be off searching for the coolest ones!))) »

« If it weren’t for the treacherous protruding feature at the back, I could easily pass for a real Pisa Tower, and through the window of the plaster Buckingham, you could imagine the queen inside! 😄
Why spend years saving up for trips when you can see everything all at once in Brussels?
The local attraction, Mini-Europe Park! Here, all the sights of Europe are built to human scale. The entrance fee doesn’t seem worth the experience... and honestly, prices in Brussels are just outrageous. They think $2 for 0.5 liters of water is normal! 😒 »

« We arrived in Brussels.
And the treat that everyone loves in the Benelux countries is waffles! They're super tasty! You can choose any filling you want - chocolate, jam, caramel, powdered sugar, chocolate spread, whipped cream, and fresh fruits! They pile so much on top that even a Nutella lover like me had to scrape off some of the filling - otherwise, my teeth would stick together. The waffles here in Brussels cost €2, while in Amsterdam, they go for €4. »

« Lack of time and money. Honestly, I just didn't want to be away for more than 2 days. I know that you can't see much in that time, but I wasn't really disappointed)) Besides, what would I have missed? The famous fountain boy? Good luck finding that! A lot of locals as soon as you step outside the city center. Beer prices range from €5 to €7 for a pint. If it weren't for Dynamo, I wouldn't have been here for as long either)))!!!! »

« So, Brussels - the capital of Belgium and the cultural and political center of the entire European community. To be honest, the first impression was just awful. We arrive at the airport, which is located 50 km from the city, and there are no specific signs on how to get to the city, plus... paid internet. Well, after some struggle, we find the bus that goes to the city... and of course, it costs €17 per person. Then, luck is on our side, and this bus takes us to a station that’s just a 5-minute walk to our new home. Everything seems fine there, BUT apparently, internet here is worth its weight in gold, because it is soooo slow. So, I’ll post the rest of the photos from Barcelona when I get home. Later, we stroll down the street and encounter a lot of Arab-Muslim establishments, as well as plenty of Muslims. They’re mixed with groups of 4-6 African Americans who give us strange looks. At this point, my hand instinctively grips my phone in my pocket))))) I just want to go home, to mom... »

« Rejoice, my flea market soul! I love flea markets; there's a great selection and so much beauty. But the authenticity starts to fade with the art expertise from North African sellers shouting, "Mademoiselle, two for one euro!" Seriously, why? However, they don't seem to appreciate antique books here. It feels like the older, the cheaper. Paradoxical, right? I bought a book from 1831 for just a buck, and they even dropped it by 2 euros. I'm quite happy! »

« I thought Mini-Europe might be quite uninteresting, but no, I actually enjoyed it and gladly spent an hour of my time and 13 dollars (it's usually 15, but I got a discount). 😊 »
@funastacia
« As usual, here’s a hotel review! The price is 53 dollars per night for a double room, spacious and centrally located (4 tram stops from the Grand Place), with free and decent internet for Skype. The hotel is starting to show its age in some areas, but at 53 a night, it doesn’t bother me! I recommend! 😊 »

« 20.6 euros for a ticket from Brussels Airport to Bruges. It was a bit tricky to buy the ticket. There are plenty of automatic machines, but I’m always nervous about inserting my card into unknown places. Plus, I’m afraid of making a mistake with the details. When selecting the departure point, there were tons of train stations listed in Brussels, and all the names were in Dutch, my favorite language))) I eventually found a ticket counter with staff, and thank you to ABBA for the unforgettable phrase - oneway ticket. By the way, the name of my departure point, i.e., the airport, is BRUSSEL-NATIONAAL-LUCHTHAVEN, and there were no signs indicating that this station is located in the airport. »

« The flight from Brussels cost 15 euros per person. By the way, it's more than 2 hours of flying. »

« The Brewery Guild. By the way, this building houses the National Beer Museum. Entrance is €5 + tasting. 🍻 »

« The second-hand music store "Harlequin" with CDs starting at 1 euro is a hidden gem! 🎶 The atmosphere here just exudes charm, and each corner is filled with nostalgia. It's like a treasure hunt every time you step in! You can find rare albums and classic vinyl records at surprisingly affordable prices, sometimes even less than $2 for a gem! 💿✨

The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable, always up for a chat about music and ready to help you find what you're looking for. Whether you're into rock, jazz, or classical, there's something for everyone here. Some days, you might even stumble upon special deals or discounts that make the experience even more delightful.
