« I can't help but share a couple more photos from Genoa. This city definitely deserves attention, although my overall impression is rather melancholic. In the old town, behind the beautiful facades of magnificent palaces, there is a stark contrast with a real ghetto filled with all sorts of newcomers and sex workers who start their day as early as 10 AM. Additionally, the streets are quite dirty. But the city itself is so unique that, in a way, you can overlook all of this. However, the people who have let it deteriorate to this state are certainly not to be forgiven. »
« Genova. A port city, gritty, filled with characters and stories, adorned with incredible palaces and yachts, warm, by the sea, often misunderstood and unappreciated, the birthplace of Columbus, with its own unique history! 🌊🏛️ »
« Genoa amazed me with its beauty; too bad the visit was short. I want to come back again. »
« Genoa is a charming and sunny city. It reminds me of Geneva in terms of its atmosphere. A place you want to come back to. In my case, that's quite rare: I'm not fond of visiting the same place twice. :) In the photo: the pirate galleon "Neptune," built in 1982 for filming. »
« The first Italian city we visited was Genoa. Such an unusual city! Back in the Middle Ages, aristocrats would move around the city only by roof, never descending. As strange as it sounds, the residents still enter their homes through the roof! 😊 »
« I really like houses like these; they add a special charm to the city. »
« First and last day in Genoa. Overall, the city is not bad. It smells in some places, but there are plenty of funiculars and it’s not hot. I visited the aquarium today. That's me, in the background with shy dolphins who didn’t want to be in the frame, so I had to point them out for everyone to see. The aquarium here is big, but not great. The best one is definitely in Barcelona. »
« Genova. A city that, according to some versions, is the birthplace of Columbus. We decided to check out this little port town. The impression is mixed:
1. This is truly the spirit of Italy. The stunning architectural beauty we see in movies: narrow streets, colorful houses with incredible decorations. The center is a blend of old-world charm with new buildings that resemble something out of a modern skyline. As you enter, you can't quite tell if you are in Italy or Cannes. There's an abundance of yachts, palm trees, and the homes tucked in the hills. A fairy tale.
2. We wandered into one of the neighborhoods... A terrible smell, dirt, and "ladies of the night." I thought they only came out at night. »
« I didn't really enjoy the city of Genoa, but it's definitely worth strolling around the house of Christopher Columbus. »
« My first impression of Genoa in one picture: a dirty little port town... So sharply different from the Italy that surrounded me for the first two days. Luckily, it turned out to be hasty and misleading ☺ »
« Said goodbye to Genoa, unexpectedly, but this little town left a delightful impression, despite the dirty center)) »
« I really like the quirky city of Genoa. »
« We arrived in Genoa yesterday at 11:00, and it was already time to leave. For a city that boasts the largest medieval district in all of Europe, along with tales of doges, courtesans, and aristocrats strolling on rooftops, the biggest aquarium in Europe, the first bank in the world, the house of Columbus, a dozen museums, and an incredibly delicious atmosphere, it's simply unforgivable. I'll definitely have to come back and see everything. Oh, by the way, Genoa is also the birthplace of pesto. I want to take a masterclass and learn all the secrets. »
« Today we left Genoa and headed to the sea.. We just didn't connect with Genoa somehow.. Maybe the rain was an obstacle, maybe it was the number of shady characters in every alley. I don't know. It's very dirty and shabby, the former glory has faded away. :( »
« The setting sun shone through the gaps in the clouds, "golden" Genoa. A beautiful city. Having visited it twice, I want to return there once again. »
« A lovely little place that makes you want to return. Genoa 😊 »
« Genoa. I felt it, I knew I would love it!!! »
« Genoa was amazing! ;)) Those medieval streets, palms, warmth, sunshine—just lovely!))) »
« Genoa The madness of narrow colorful streets with tall buildings, and it's also a city that you enjoy leaving))) »
« Today, my favorites Madrid and Budapest welcomed Genoa into their company 😊 I felt like crying tears of joy surrounded by so much beauty! I was truly blown away! We definitely plan to return for at least five days! I never expected anything like this from Genoa; it was the same with Madrid 😊 It turned out to be love at first sight! »
« Genoa. Another small and quiet town. No noise, no hustle and bustle. Except for one street, deep in the city center, where lively girls stand at night.
Not too many attractions, but you can find some really charming spots. But what you absolutely must visit and capture from every angle is the Cathedral of San Lorenzo. I'm enchanted by it. »
« I've been reading reviews from different people and I realize that Genoa is different for everyone. A heavy downpour stole a day from us in this city. Maybe that's why I long to go back... »
