« I discovered an amazing building yesterday in Kaunas. An office center, its facade beautifully crafted from 4,500 glass tiles, representing a giant cup of coffee in a 1,000-liter size. Lithuania switched to the euro some time ago, and this design cleverly commemorates its national currency.
Overall, Kaunas has a charming vibe. It's described as having a population of around 300,000, but it feels much busier than that. There are a few large shopping centers and plenty of public transport routes... but the old town is compact, and in just a couple of hours, you can see everything it has to offer. 😊 »
« The overall impression of Lithuania is quite disappointing. In Vilnius and Kaunas, the old town areas seem decent, but there’s still a pervasive sense of decay, weariness, graffiti, and abandonment. It's unclear why no renovations are taking place, or at least a basic cleaning of the facades. Just a 10-minute walk from the center, the overwhelming grayness hits you. The buildings rarely exceed four stories and are mostly from the Soviet era, giving off a neglected vibe. The graffiti—it's everywhere. Every building, bus stop, kiosk, and even the hard-to-reach spots! It feels like the youth are trying to add some color to the otherwise dull surroundings. »
« Kaunas, I liked the color of the house. :) »
« Kaunas is a very comfortable city for hedgehogs! I'll definitely come back! »
« City left mixed impressions.... »
« My husband and I fell in love with Kaunas and its unique atmosphere; we will definitely be back!! »

« We liked the Old Town of Kaunas more than the Old Town of Vilnius. However, Kaunas itself is a bit more run-down. »
« The cities of Lithuania struck me with their run-down buildings. Vilnius didn’t impress at all. Minsk is much more beautiful. Kaunas was my favorite, but only the central pedestrian street (the one in the picture). If you go a bit further, you end up in neighborhoods that can only be described as shantytowns. Lithuania is a country of fabulous shops and impoverished homes. »
