« Zurich. The little city surprised me. At first, it was pleasant. There weren't many people, even fewer cars, and on the main street, Bahnhofstrasse, it was quiet. But then it took a turn. The prices here are just crazy. On the bright side, the men are quite the fashionistas, strutting around in suits. I get that they’re probably bank employees, but still, very stylish! 😄 Yet another downside: the entire city is under construction, and it is all dug up. Not the greatest impression, to say the least. »
We're soaking in the beauty of winter Zurich.
I fulfilled my dream—especially since I was at a Hollywood Undead concert there.
Yesterday, it hit me that Zurich is not a cheap place to be. Oh no, that was Bern.
Zurich is notoriously pricey (just like the rest of the country). The cost of a regular croissant with butter here is about $12, compared to $3 in Germany and $5 in Austria. That's a staggering difference! The exchange rate is roughly on par with the euro.
We didn't convert any money; we paid by card or accepted change in euros or Swiss francs (though receiving francs felt a bit off since the euro's value is higher. For instance, 22 francs is about $20). 😎😄 What a quirky system!
I always take my food with me, except when it comes to Starbucks coffee (a medium latte with coconut is about 9 francs - $7.50). So when you travel through Europe, even Europeans find ways to be thrifty to avoid those outrageous prices. »
