« So, today I went up to the Funicular with a scenic viewing platform, costing 1 manat one way. The view from there is divine! I walked for about 40 minutes, the air is so refreshing… every step makes you want to take photos, it's simply beautiful here! 🌄📸 »

« What to try and where:
1. Sadzhi!!!!! This dish with meat and vegetables in a dish like a skillet is simply delicious and colorful. It’s shown in photo N2.
2. The special plov here is served in two bowls - one with rice, and the other with everything else: raisins, apricots, meat, etc.
3. Tandoori skewers - freshly made, right before your eyes.
4. Granatovoe wine.
5. Cutlets and kebabs, sprinkled with a grainy coating - simply the best.

As for where to find this, I won't dive into specifics here, but if you know you know. 🤭
The dishes are mega-delicious; I almost didn’t want to post a photo.

The local kebabs, only fillet. They call it here – yes, the official name is "baklazhan!" In principle, the prices are reasonable, but in practice, it turns out that they are contractual. Just don’t expect them to suit our taste. 😉

✅ Metro - the fare is $0.06! There are ticket counters everywhere, but the machines don't give change. When the stations are announced, music plays, like the soundtrack of a Baku metro. 🎉
✅ Funicular (last photo) - 1 manat, 20 minutes of waiting, 2 minutes of riding and you're at the best viewpoint. Though you can also walk. »

« Eggplant! And not a Lada sedan!
In Baku, they call the local taxi the "Eggplant," similar to London’s but made in China. Someone up top took a liking to these small yet spacious "bugs," leading to a huge order for cars from Chinese manufacturers for Baku.
The little cars come in two types: those with a meter (minimum charge of 3 Manat, then it starts ticking) and those without (the meter runs right away). In practice, it tends to come out the same.
I was heading to the market.
When we arrived, the taxi meter showed 4.54 Manat. I would have given the driver 5 Manat regardless, but I just had to ask—do they give change in Baku?
The driver silently confirmed the fare was 5 Manat, turned around, and said with an accent: "This is Baku—get used to it!" »

« We went up to the "Maiden Tower" for two manats. The view isn’t anything special, but at least we can check it off our list)) »

« 6 manats 20 kopecks, Ask at the pharmacies in the city. »

« Taxi drivers in Baku are incredibly friendly; everyone is eager to take you to the best restaurant with great prices, show you the most amazing spots, and give you "brotherly" advice, like that you don't need to pay for the funicular (which is actually free anyway). 😊 »

« Our weekend in Baku has come to an end! We've gathered a variety of impressions, with both ups and downs. Nonetheless, Baku is a rapidly developing and dynamic city. There are vast boulevards, numerous fountains, and a beautifully scenic waterfront. On the downside, the beaches are quite dirty, and you can see a stark contrast between wealth and poverty, with luxurious penthouses right next to slums. Prices are generally comparable to ours for everything. Still, the grandeur of Baku is breathtaking. Should you visit? Absolutely! It's worth exploring the landmarks, feeling the Eastern spirit, touching history, meeting the locals, and savoring the local flavor—definitely a big YES! (I'll gradually be sharing new photos.) Next up, Georgia awaits! »

« Carpets are a special love in Azerbaijan. In the Old City, they're on every street corner. Prices start at around $1,000. 🎉 »
