Tha Phae Gate
Tha Phae Gate, situated in the Old City of Chiang Mai, is one of the most iconic landmarks in the area. Dating back to the 13th century, this historic gate was once a significant entrance to the city, protecting it from invaders. A prominent feature of the gate is its tall brick structure, which rises impressively to about 10 meters and serves as a reminder of the city's ancient walls. Each year, the Tha Phae Gate becomes particularly lively during the Yi Peng Lantern Festival in November, when colorful lanterns fill the sky. Visitors can explore the surrounding area, which is filled with local shops, cafes, and vibrant markets, making it an excellent spot to experience the culture of Chiang Mai.
