Royal Greenhouses of Laeken
Royal Greenhouses of Laeken, built in the late 19th century, are situated in the Laeken district of Brussels. This expansive complex was designed by architect Alphonse Balat and serves as a venue for the royal family to cultivate exotic plants and flowers. Each spring, from mid-April to early May, the greenhouses open to the public, allowing visitors to explore its 2.5 hectares of botanical riches, including orchids and giant water lilies. The intricate glass and iron structures, alongside the lush gardens, create a unique atmosphere reminiscent of a Victorian era greenhouse. Visitors can stroll through various sections, marveling at the diverse flora while soaking in the historical significance of this royal estate.
