Jewish Memorial
Jewish Memorial, formally known as the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe, is located in the heart of Berlin, near the Brandenburg Gate. Designed by architect Peter Eisenman and completed in 2005, this striking memorial consists of 2,711 concrete slabs of varying heights, symbolizing the countless victims of the Holocaust. The site serves as a poignant reminder of the past, inviting visitors to reflect on history while navigating through the maze-like arrangement. Open year-round, the memorial's unique design offers a different experience with each visit, especially in the winter when a blanket of snow covers the slabs. Visitors can also explore the adjacent underground information center, which provides detailed insights into the Holocaust and its impact on Europe.
