Kölner Zoo

  Kölner Zoo, founded in 1860, is nestled just a stones' throw from the stunning Cologne Cathedral. One interesting fact is that it began with only 30 animals and has since expanded to house around 400 species across its expansive 20-hectare grounds. The zoo's main purpose is to provide visitors with an educational experience about wildlife conservation while allowing them to observe everything from elephants to penguins. During the festive months of December and January, the zoo also transforms with enchanting holiday lights, making it a unique seasonal attraction.
