Obelisco Vaticano
Rising majestically at the center of St. Peter's Square in Vatican City, Obelisco Vaticano is a striking ancient structure that dates back to 15 BC. Originally from Heliopolis, Egypt, this granite obelisk stands 25.5 meters tall and is an impressive 8.8 meters underground, making it one of the tallest obelisks in Rome. It was transported to Rome by Emperor Caligula, serving as a prominent landmark and symbol of the city. In December, visitors flock to the square to witness the annual Christmas tree and Nativity scene, creating a lively atmosphere around the obelisk. Here, guests can admire not only the stunning architecture of St. Peter's Basilica nearby but also the vibrant gatherings of tourists and locals alike.
