Santa Maria della Salute

  Santa Maria della Salute rises prominently at the entrance of the Grand Canal in Venice. Completed in 1687, this baroque church was built as a vow to the Virgin Mary during a plague that struck the city in the mid-17th century. Its main feature is the distinctive dome, which spans 35 meters in diameter and adds a striking silhouette to the Venetian skyline. Each November, visitors can witness the annual Feast of Santa Maria della Salute, marked by a pilgrimage over the temporary bridge connecting the church to the bustling Dorsoduro district. Inside, the church houses impressive artworks, including pieces by Titian, inviting guests to explore both its religious significance and artistic heritage.
