Riga Freedom Monument
Riga Freedom Monument stands gracefully in the city's center, specifically at the intersection of Brivibas Street and Krišjāņa Valdemāra Street. Erected in 1935, this significant memorial honors the soldiers who fought for Latvian independence during the Latvian War of Independence. The monument, which reaches a height of 42 meters, features a central obelisk topped by a bronze figure of Liberty, symbolizing freedom. One interesting detail is that every November 18th, on Latvia's Independence Day, a ceremonial wreath-laying takes place, attracting many visitors. Guests can stroll around the surrounding area, appreciating the gardens and sculptures that contribute to the monument's solemn atmosphere.
