De Hortus
De Hortus sits at 2 Plantage Middenlaan in the heart of Amsterdam, nestled near the popular Artis Zoo. Founded in 1638 as a medicinal herb garden for the city's apothecaries, it has evolved into one of the oldest botanical gardens in Europe. This serene garden features over 4,000 species of plants, including tropical trees within a remarkable 1,200 square meter Palm House. From April to October, visitors can explore its lush paths, admire the diverse flora, and even relax by the picturesque ponds. Don't miss the lovely combination of historic greenhouses and modern landscaping that brings the garden's rich heritage to life.
