Cristo Redentor

  Rising above the cityscape, Cristo Redentor stands at the peak of Corcovado Mountain in the Tijuca National Park, about 700 meters above sea level. This iconic statue, completed in 1931, is an enduring symbol of Christianity and Rio de Janeiro. The statue measures 30 meters in height, not including its 8-meter pedestal, and offers visitors panoramic views of the sprawling city below. During the summer months, particularly in December, the site attracts numerous tourists eager to capture the views and explore the park’s diverse flora and fauna, including tropical birds and lush vegetation. While visiting, you can climb up to the viewing platform for a closer look at the statue and enjoy stunning vistas that showcase landmarks like Sugarloaf Mountain and the Copacabana Beach coastline.
