Getting Around

Metro
Baku's metro covers key areas from 6am to midnight for just 0.30 AZN per ride, and you can purchase a BakuCard for seamless travel across all public transport. Pro tip: always keep an eye on your belongings, especially during peak hours, as the metro can get crowded.
Car
Baku's auto-taxis are widely available, starting at 3 AZN for a base fare, with the app Bolt often providing the best rates; just ensure you confirm the driver’s ID before getting in. For a quicker trip, especially during rush hour, use local shortcut routes through the city center, like Yasar Aliyev Street, to avoid traffic jams.

« Baku's Flame Towers are the main attraction of the city. They can be seen from any point around. And they are especially beautiful at night)))) »

« - The city is very clean and well-maintained, it even reminds me of something from a more developed area. Very beautiful! »

« Baku masterfully combines the beauty of the old town with a modern spirit. We experienced a city that was completely different from what we expected, and I'm so glad we had the chance to visit and break our own stereotypes. I don't often say this after traveling, but I really want to come back to this city many more times :) »

« No, not that I expected to see people with goats when I stepped out of the airport, but Baku is really impressive! It's a modern, comfortably European, and very beautiful city. Even the underground passages here are incredibly beautiful! »

« Baku turned out to be a fantastic city with perfect roads, plenty of greenery, delicious cuisine, great shopping, and an abundance of bold architectural designs harmoniously coexisting with magnificent classical buildings. I confidently recommend visiting this city. It exceeded my wildest expectations! 🌟 »

« Cosmic architecture and breathtaking views. I just want to take a deep breath and watch. Watch the vast open spaces, the cars moving slowly on their errands, a few tourists taking photos nearby, and the sun disappearing behind swiftly flowing clouds.
For me, Baku will primarily be remembered as a city of enormous open spaces. It leaves you dizzy; you look up and immediately feel the urge to grab onto some invisible support.
Three fantastic days where I can’t recall anything I didn’t like.

On the way from the airport, a local told me that there’s nothing to do in Baku during winter. I'm glad he was wrong! The lack of tourists and milder temperatures definitely enhance the enjoyment of the getaway. »

« A little more from Baku! When asked what I liked the most, it’s hard to answer: it’s the hotel, the pool in that hotel, the wide promenade along the Caspian Sea, the new modern buildings styled like the old ones, the airport, the restaurants, the weather, the shops, the pomegranates, the lively markets, the old town, and how the locals speak with reverence about the president, and the service, and so much more! I will definitely be back! 😊✨ »

« Baku is under construction everywhere: you can see the frames of future homes, hotels, shops, and entertainment centers all around. What's especially delightful is that the new developments are done with great taste and blend well with the existing landscape. I'm curious to come back here in ten years and compare ☺️ But what stole my heart the most were the marble underground walkways! »
