Vietnam Veterans Memorial
Vietnam Veterans Memorial, situated in the National Mall area of Washington, D.C., is a poignant tribute to the U.S. service members who served in the Vietnam War. Designed by Maya Lin and dedicated in 1982, this memorial features a black granite wall that stretches 492 feet, inscribed with the names of over 58,000 fallen soldiers. Visitors can reflect at this solemn site year-round, but the spring months of April and May often see increased footfalls due to Memorial Day observances. While there, people can take time to look at the engraved names, some leaving mementos or tracing names with paper and pencil. Near the Lincoln Memorial, this site serves as both a historical landmark and a place of remembrance for many.
