Archibald Fountain
Archibald Fountain sits at the heart of Hyde Park in Sydney, nestled near the southern edge of the park across from St. Mary's Cathedral. Built in 1932, this iconic fountain was designed to honor the memory of J.F. Archibald, the founding editor of The Bulletin magazine, and reflects the rich history of artistic collaboration and cultural ties between Australia and France. Its central feature is a striking bronze statue of a nude figure representing the Greek mythological god, Apollo, surrounded by playful sculptures of frogs and water nymphs. Visitors can witness the fountain's water displays which are particularly vibrant during the warm summer months of December through February. As you stroll around the surrounding gardens, you may also enjoy the various artistic sculptures and lush greenery that enhance the relaxing atmosphere.
