Wat Phnom
Rising to 27 meters, Wat Phnom sits at the end of Street 96 in the heart of Phnom Penh. Dating back to 1373, this historical site is known as the birthplace of the capital city, as legend has it that a woman named Penh discovered a Buddhist statue here. The main feature is the hilltop temple surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens, where local monks offer blessings and visitors can immerse themselves in the tranquil ambiance. Throughout the year, particularly in April, the temple is vibrant with ceremonies celebrating Khmer New Year, attracting both locals and tourists. At Wat Phnom, visitors can explore intricate sculptures, observe daily rituals, and enjoy the panoramic views of the city from the summit.
