Temple of Heaven
Built during the Ming dynasty in 1420, the Temple of Heaven sits in the Dongcheng District of Beijing, specifically at Tiantan East Road. This UNESCO World Heritage site was historically used by emperors to pray for good harvests, embodying significant cultural and spiritual importance in Chinese history. The temple complex features the iconic Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests, a stunning round structure crafted from wood and rising to 38 meters in height. Visitors can stroll through the expansive 2.73 square kilometer park, which is particularly picturesque in early April when cherry blossoms are in bloom. As you explore, keep an eye out for locals engaging in activities like tai chi or playing traditional instruments, adding a vibrant atmosphere to this historical site.
