Getting Around
Taxi
Macau taxis are widely available 24/7, with a base fare of MOP 19 for the first 1,000 meters, but be aware that surcharges apply for peak hours and the airport. To avoid extra fees, use local rideshare apps like Taxi Macau to pre-book your ride and ensure a smoother experience without cash worries.
On Foot
Macau's pedestrian pathways are extensive and well-maintained, perfect for exploring attractions like the Ruins of St. Paul's and Senado Square without any cost; just keep an Octopus card handy for quick access to nearby public transport if needed. Always stay hydrated and wear comfortable shoes, as some areas are hilly and can make walking tiring!

« Macao Beach🏖, also known as Dominican Kazantip. Here, there’s no coral reef protecting other beaches from rough waves. 🌊 That’s why you’ll find so many surfers here. 🏄♀️🏄♂️ Trust me, it’s all about the vibe. Bringing special equipment here isn’t necessary. It’s not considered wild. »
« If you want to experience the atmosphere of Europe while living in Asia, visit Macao. This former Portuguese colony has preserved its charm with street names in Portuguese, beautiful churches, traditional Portuguese tiles, and, of course, the mouthwatering egg tarts. But food isn't the only attraction in Macao. People come here with a naive hope of hitting it big in the casinos. It’s often referred to as the second Las Vegas. The cash flows are intoxicating and seem endless.
The colossal casinos, striking in their size and design, are a sight to behold. Want to go play at the tables? Or perhaps take a look at some other famous landmarks? The government of Macao is so wealthy that it distributes more than $1,300 to each resident annually. It's quite a feat to fall in love with this place, but it’s definitely worth a visit if you have the chance. »
« In the main part of Macau, there are old postcards that remind me of ruins, but they look really colorful. Especially many such postcards are found along the riverbank, which borders mainland China. It’s surprising how few people are here. One might think it’s worth crossing to the other side to visit St. Paul's, which is always crowded with tourists. I really enjoyed this route up into the hills and the view from the fort. 😊 »
« Thank you, Macau! Time to go home. Impressions are through the roof!! 😊 »
« Macau is an amazing place that is definitely worth visiting while in Asia. It's a vibrant blend of two cultures that have borrowed from each other throughout history, from the cuisine to the architecture. It's really cool, only pleasant impressions! ❤️ »
« In Macau, I encountered a tiny piece of Venice. The impressions were so vivid, even though it was just a shopping mall. They even have gondoliers singing!!!!☝ »
« Senado Square, globally renowned for its wavy mosaic, serves as the heart of Old Macau. It's adorned with a fountain and the facades of the Senate, the Post Office, the Holy House of Mercy, and St. Dominic's Church. In March, Macau enjoys a pleasant 70°F (21°C). Isn't it a great reason to visit this former Portuguese colony? 🌞✨ »
« I'm going to share my impressions of Macau. You walk along, surrounded by the hustle of the city, and suddenly, bam! There’s the Saint Lazarus Cathedral or Saint Anthony's or whatever you want to call it. It feels like a little quest, I swear. 😄 »
« We don't like Macau with my monkey. »
« Visited Macau on an official visit. It's beautiful, even though the weather wasn't ideal. 😊 »
« Goodbye, magnificent Macau. A blend of Europe and Asia, lavishly sprinkled with luxury. I loved everything here, thank you to this city for its hospitality and to my friend for not letting me have the chips, otherwise I would have settled near the roulette table. 😊✨ »
« Arriving here, you realize—or rather, don't realize—HOW much money is involved. For the opening of one of the local casinos, they invited several celebrities—Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, and the like... At that time, just a photo with them costs an outrageous amount. »
« Don't like the high-rise buildings in your area? Then you should come here! Macau. »
« First impressions of Macau: a sort of unfinished Vegas for now. It’s quite cozy here, not too crowded at all. 😊 »
« God, how I love Macau. It has everything I didn’t get from Hong Kong. This is a true colonial city where East meets West. »
« Today, I visited Macau. It’s a charming island destination where many people head for the weekend to try their luck at the casinos. I really enjoyed the mix of Portuguese architecture, towering skyscrapers, and residential high-rises. »
« Macau, all that's left of St. Paul's Cathedral. Strange impressions: on one hand, there's the interesting colonial architecture in the center, and on the other hand, the signs in Portuguese add to the confusion amidst the already chaotic Chinese vibe. 😅 »
« I really loved the old Portuguese architecture and the historic district in Macau. If it weren't for that, the city would be indistinguishable from Hong Kong. There are crowds everywhere and shops all around. Overall, the main takeaway from this trip is that I have to visit Portugal! »
« Today we had an unexpected walk in Macau. We enjoyed it! »
« I prefer the Portuguese part of Macau much more than the Chinese side! »
« The nightlife in Macau is mesmerizing! Here, you don't want to sleep or eat, just walk and look, look, look!! I have so many impressions from this vibrant and luxurious city!))) »
