« Arrived in Hanoi in northern Vietnam, and wow, it is really cold here. In the morning, it was only 44°F. The Vietnamese New Year, Tet, is approaching. A local mentioned that there hasn’t been such a cold winter here in six years. Looks like we got lucky! In the evenings, people warm up on the streets by makeshift grills. In the photo, we’re warming our hands right on the border of Vietnam with Laos. »

« The rain and cold haven't stopped since Saturday, so life in the city has come to a halt: schools are closed, which means no work (and there won't be any until mid-February, haha). It's too cold and wet to ride bikes, so everyone is staying home and wrapping themselves in blankets, and there has been no hot water in our house since Saturday. Basically, it's like if it were minus 40 degrees! :) »

« Winter is here! December 2nd, and still no snow in sight))) Honestly, I kinda miss the snow. This is the second winter that's been so... green)) »

« In the capital of Vietnam, Hanoi, it's a chilly 23-25 degrees Celsius with rain all day long. Considering we don't have any winter hats or boots, we've decided to head closer to the equator tomorrow. »

« In Vietnam, it's really warm; stepping out of the airport, our camera lenses fogged up 🌥️. In the shade during the day, it's around 95°F, and it's very humid. Kids can sit wherever they like without bothering their parents 😊. »

« I'm flying to Hanoi in the evening. They're forecasting rain and thunderstorms, but maybe I'll get lucky and it will be sunny like last time... ☀️✈️ »

« It's a morning at the Hanoi airport, and the weather is grim 😩 flights are delayed (Vietnamese don't fly in a storm)! »

« Today is the first nice weather since August 27th: 81°F, no sun at all, even the wind is blowing :) »

« In a coffee shop, we were offered a little something. One of us was asked to sing a song for the stoned café owner as a gift, and he, in return, sang a song for our friend. I haven't seen such rain in a long time. Riding a motorcycle in pouring rain is an indescribable experience.

Today, I met three Vietnamese speakers who are also fluent in English. Now I won't always sit there not understanding what's happening during conversations.

✅ Fun fact of the day from Vietnam: all Vietnamese are very afraid of both the sun and the rain. Hardly anyone rides a motorcycle without a raincoat, and they use umbrellas in both sunny and rainy weather. When it started to rain at Ba Na Hills resort, all the visitors quickly dashed to the cable cars to head home; the place cleared out in just 15 minutes. They dislike the rain so much here that they open umbrellas just to walk 2 meters from the mall's entrance to their car. »

« Tomorrow is Independence Day. I haven't really specified who from yet. The whole city is draped in flags, flags on every house, and everyone has a four-day weekend, resulting in packed shopping centers where it's actually hard to move around. ✅Here's a fun fact about Vietnam: Vietnamese people don't go to the beach before noon because they're afraid of the sun. In Da Nang, there hasn't been any sun at all for the past four days, but even in such weather, the beach was empty in the morning because everyone was waiting for the sun to go away completely. Nobody wants to accidentally get tanned, and all the girls are slathering on whitening creams while they laugh at my stories about the existence of tanning beds. 😄 »

« The hot weather suddenly gave way to heavy rain... Hanoi is crying that I'm leaving(( »
