Getting Around

On Foot
Vienna's pedestrian paths and well-maintained sidewalks make walking a breeze around central districts like Innere Stadt, completely free, and keep an eye out for the iconic Ringstrasse that offers a scenic 5-km loop of major sights. For a unique experience, stroll along the Donaukanal, where vibrant street art and local cafes abound, especially lively on weekends.
Tram
Vienna's trams cost €2.40 for a single ride and provide extensive coverage across the city, including popular stops like Stephansplatz and Schönbrunn Palace, so buy a ticket from the machines at the stations before boarding. « ... Beautiful place, it didn't seem to me either a tourist trap or pretentious... is it worth visiting? - yes. Although... I caught myself thinking that I had seen this somewhere before 🤔 »

« Despite all its fame and grandeur, I found Vienna less charming than Prague. It didn’t feel cozy here for some reason 😔 Maybe it had to do with the fact that the entire day was overcast and really cold 😩 »

« Vienna – a city that captured my heart from the very first moments. For me, it's an incredible rarity – I rarely feel so much in my "own element." The awe of Stephansdom left such an impression that despite the cold, humidity, and wind, I stood there, mesmerized and absorbing every detail of this magnificent building. The architecture, the atmosphere felt like home – as if I had been here before. I even imagined living here, strolling through the streets every evening and writing poetry at night. To truly understand this place, you have to visit. Tomorrow I'm off to Munich. But honestly, I’m already looking forward to coming back. Vienna, I hope to see you again soon! ❤ »

« Oh, wonderful Vena, thank you for this unexpected gift, a bouquet of roses. You turn each of my visits into a fairy tale! Every time my soul awakens at the possibility of being surrounded by such beauty. 🌹✨ »

« 🚩 About Venice, St. Stephen's Church, and the Venetian Opera. 🚩 It's something else. Venice left such an impression on me after my first day there. The city is beautiful, clean, and not too crowded, although you do encounter people, but not too overwhelmingly. There’s this lady who wears an elegant dress and goes to the opera. She doesn’t allow herself to show excessive emotions. She's composed and raised in a refined manner. At the same time, this lady is very beautiful and admired by many.

🚩 Here’s what I think about Venice. It’s good. However, this city felt a bit monotonous to me, as all the streets look quite similar to one another. 🚩 Behind the palace, you can always find a place where you can feel like that same lady gracefully heading to the ball in her luxurious dress. 🚩 The first magnificent landmark we saw was a Gothic-style building that really stood out to me. Below this church, there are some strange things that are truly amazing! 😉 For instance, tombs of political figures, the graves of members of the Habsburg family, and details that originally decorated the church but were later replaced by copies, costing around 11,000 people who used to be laid there. After all, there used to be a burial place there.

In general, it’s a rather busy time, and about 6 euros per ticket should not be an issue. 🚲 In the evening, we headed towards the Venetian Opera. We, of course, knew one secret. You can buy a standing ticket for only 3 euros. To do this:
1. You need to know when the performance will take place.
2. Skip the opera and spend 1-2 hours to line up (short or long - it depends on how early you arrive).
3. Wait.
4. Head to the queue.
5. Buy a standing ticket for 3 euros.
6. Enjoy the whole opera on the last day of your visit! 🚩 We didn’t wait too long 😄 We only spent about 40 minutes in line for the performance (3 hours before the event), and it was interesting because we realized the scene was happening in front of all the viewers, with small screens where you could switch on subtitles, including in foreign languages. »

« Vena. This city embodies opulence, elegance, and grace in its purest form. They say every city has its own charm, and Venice's essence is a blend of coffee, gondolas, and a timeless atmosphere. How does that sound to you? People here spend their lives savoring coffee in cafes and patisseries, where astonishing traditions and service levels await: you can only truly appreciate the taste of coffee while slowly indulging in it, and in between sips, you'll enjoy pure water, which they always serve with a cup of latte and Americano. The staff will offer you fresh newspapers, and you’ll never be asked to place additional orders or anything extra. Venice smells of pastries, as the sugar-loaded treats are the main signature dessert, and you can toss them into champagne for that unique twist. But the majestic gondolas float here all around, from touristy spots to serene corners. Getting a ticket for the gondola ride is a challenge, just like in the Opera. You won't easily find such gondolas anywhere else. Overall, just breathtaking. »

« I have this curious habit: every time I find myself in a new place, I can't help but take note of the homeless around. 🏙️

Here, there aren’t too many of them, and they seem quite well-mannered. Today, I witnessed an interesting scene where one approached a man and asked him for money. The man gave him a coin, not more than a dollar, to which the homeless guy replied that it wouldn’t do and he could just keep it, offering to return the money instead. 😄 »

« For me, Venice will always remain charming with its magnificent architecture: Renaissance, Baroque, Gothic... There's something about this place that makes me feel incredibly comfortable. 🌊✨ »

« Vena... Vena... This place is truly a magnificent heritage! 😍 It is historically known for its stunning architecture 🏛️, an abundance of monuments 🏅, and remarkable parks 🌳. Definitely, it's all worth seeing with your own eyes! 😏❤️ »

« 🎨 An exquisite, aristocratic breed that embodies luxury, elegance, and a unique charm. 💎 Thanks to Peter I, who was able to infuse this atmosphere into the city, such breeds are often referred to as "breeds with soul." It's simply impossible to describe the feelings you experience when strolling through these streets with words or photographs. You just need to experience it. 🕊️ I will definitely return! 🙏🏻✨ »
@daryasych
« The most interesting breed for traveling enthusiasts is the Vena. This breed is called the best in the world! International rankings confirm that Vena is at the top in all aspects. The only downside is that shops are closed on Sundays – a bit of a bummer for shopping. 🌍✈️ »

« Venice captivated me right from the start. Oh, this ideal cleanliness, ancient alleys, and the rich architectural heritage. Every building feels remarkable. I can't help but think about a friend's trip to Switzerland when I see it. But here everything is more affordable and simpler! No visa is needed; just show your passport at the border, and you’re good to go without any additional questions.

As for prices, you can find accommodation for around $220 per night for two people, or even $16 for dorms. It's all about preference, but the nicer the place, the longer you want to stay in it. And that’s a no-no when you’re in Venice. After all, you could spend your entire time just sightseeing. The view from the window was breathtaking, just like all of Venice.

The weather was also perfect. In early February, it was around +50°F. »

« At the moment, I'm heading from Vienna to Bratislava. Earlier, I mentioned that the city has a unique charm. I must say, Budapest is a classic beauty. Thank you, Vienna, for this revelation!

I couldn't describe Vienna with one word; I ended up with three: beautiful, picturesque, and a bit dull. This is that rare case when everything is so good that it almost feels off! I lack the energy to detail everything here, whether it's about some beautiful town center or notable people who lived here.

I really wish to live in a city with such a standard of living, but let’s just say it won't be Vienna :) P.S. I had no idea there are Austrian wines. And they're quite delicious! For example, either Grüner Veltliner or Riesling, but the most memorable drink from Vienna is a second-rate purchase that costs around $996 :) »

« Good morning! My vacation started on the right foot! Venice is a dream! The architecture here is breathtaking. Each building reflects not just historical architecture but also modern postcards. The atmosphere is filled with classical music and opera. From the very first moments, it captured me with its charm, grandeur, and beauty.

In the photo, you can see the "Church of San Giorgio Maggiore," a special temple that stands as a symbol of gratitude for some fortunate event. »

« Hi travelers 👋🏻

Traveling is my favorite. It’s so fascinating to feel the everyday life of the place I’m visiting. Sitting on a bench in a park or just hanging out on the street, without worrying about anything, simply observing.

• Here I am in one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, maybe even in the world. Vienna. Austria. A country of coffee, music, mountains, and magnificent architecture.

• Strolling around Vienna and indulging in its masterpieces, sipping a cup of Viennese coffee with a “Sachertorte” or a pint of beer, you start to understand why Austria’s capital is recognized as the most comfortable city for living in the world. Vienna ranks first in global livability.

• The stunning architecture of Vienna takes you back a couple of centuries. The historical part of the city doesn’t give you a single chance to ignore it. You constantly find yourself looking up, admiring all this beauty and thinking “wow.” And despite living in a beautiful city myself, I find Vienna to be even more stunning. You will notice similar architectural styles. Not for nothing did Peter the Great invite architects from Europe. Vienna’s opera, Hofburg, St. Stephen’s Cathedral, the History of Art Museum, the Belvedere Palace, the Vienna Art Museum, and many more. A city rich in museums. With such a large number of impressive architecture, it can only be compared to Rome.

• Vienna is not very cheap. A room in a three-star hotel will cost you around 100-110 euros💶. But without a doubt, it’s worth visiting this city. A day or better two.

• Many cafes, restaurants, and hotels carry musical names. After all, Vienna is also recognized as the capital of music, where Mozart, Schubert, Beethoven, and Strauss lived and created.

• When you arrive in Vienna, you definitely won’t be left indifferent. 😉 »

« Today I had an unforgettable day in the Austrian capital, Vienna!!! It’s not just a saying: Budapest is to be seen, but Vienna is to be experienced!!! The majestic baroque palaces with their orchestras, the Viennese waltz, Gothic cathedrals - a symbol of Vienna - St. Stephen's Cathedral, the Mozart museum, the passionate ambiance, horse-drawn carriages, and the bustling palace square... The spirit and colors of this charming city, the cold yet invigorating February air, and the delightful aroma of coffee fill the soul with warmth. Everything here just makes your heart race...

I truly want to stay here... It's definitely worth coming back! »

« After this city, I’m left with a pleasant impression of its architecture, history, and attractions. Such a clean and charming place. Although Vienna is a capital and the main city of the country, it doesn’t feel like it does in other capitals. Of course, I didn’t realize what this city represents after the sunset, but now I can say I like it just as much as Munich! 😊 »
@prodammoped
« Do you know what? Don’t believe me! Don’t believe that Vienna is boring. In my eyes, it’s just the opposite and it’s totally not true that you won’t like it here. We are all different, in so many ways. I choose my favorite spots with my heart, and in this case, it simply doesn't resonate with me. Vienna for me—it's like... pudding 😺😳! Beautiful and fluffy, but I’m just not into it 🤷‍♀️ (the same applies to Hawaiian surfers 😂). Today, for instance, I sent someone I know to enjoy it.

And at some point, I found myself wandering aimlessly around the center, checking out all these old buildings, exploring beauties and faces of stone ‘Appollens,’ stepping into various collections and exhibitions, listening to how delicately crafted they are from those ancient horse power pieces. It’s a delightful “klotsk-klotsk-klotsk” on the cobblestones, while golden rays peek through their fluffy curls. Today was sunny, but a bit chilly. I barely managed to utter “Shtetspelatz” with my frozen lips or, worse, “Haufbanhnof."

P.S. The hype around “Cafe Central” is excessive, I must say. There are other equally beautiful places with just as good coffee and desserts, but without the wait. »

« We are in Venice and it's just beautiful here! A little sipping, lots of drinking, constantly bumping into locals. I scored two packs of cigarettes. One guy at the bar said that smoking here is bad, but in Venice, it’s simply not possible not to smoke. »
@katrin_markova_
« How beautiful Venice is in the evenings 😍✨, it's a pity that the photo doesn't capture even a small part of that beauty that we observe here every day 😳. It feels like with the onset of darkness, the city transforms into one huge fairy tale 🌌🏰🧚‍♀️. »
@dmitry_tananyhin
« Venice completely fulfilled my expectations! I came here directly from Prague, and in my opinion, if you compare Venice with any other city, it should be called its "sister" Prague! If Prague is a cozy and warm city, then Venice is pompous and monumental. This city has recently been recognized as one of the best places for many worldwide communities and rankings. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♀️👧👦 The average life expectancy here is over 85 years!!! The city offers a range of options for any taste. It's fascinating how it attracts both the youth and retirees.

🏛️ The old architecture blends with modern buildings. But everything looks harmonized, there’s no messiness. ✨ Perfect cleanliness! The city is very tidy. The asphalt shines! If you want to throw out trash – be good and separate plastics into one bin, organics into another, and paper into a third. You can feel the German perfectionism everywhere.

🏢 Property here is incredibly expensive! A normal one-bedroom apartment starts from around $210,000.

If you haven't yet chosen your travel destination, Venice will pleasantly surprise you. 😉 »

« Today, Vena was completely different 😍 The first course was a lovely herbal setup, and the second one was just unbelievable 💚 They served a delightful two-piece portion of my favorite sweet treat, this meringue 🥰 A liter of water came alongside, but the atmosphere was just spot on. In summary, at the Vena + Praga tandem, Vena took the win ❤️ »

« My Austria... My Vienna...
Five years ago, I first came here with my parents...
I was captivated with all my heart and fell in love at first sight... utterly and irreversibly...
Today...
We had just four hours to roam the streets of Vienna.
The weather gave us the chance to see the city in all its glory...
Overcast, windy, with a light drizzle, shifting to sunshine...
Strong, powerful, commanding, yet so clean and beautiful... extraordinary...
A city where you don’t need to search for the perfect spot for a great photo... every alley, every building, the parks, traffic lights, horse-drawn carriages... all filled with the spirit of Mozart’s time and the modern charm of Conchita Wurst. »
@gusarova_ph
« What a day it has been! We walked half of Vienna, took a nap under a tree in the park for an hour and a half, trekked a ton of kilometers, feasted on Vienna sausages and strawberries, enjoyed some Viennese coffee, and the best part - completely by chance, while sitting at a table finishing up our strawberries, we bumped into a friend! We ended up having a wonderful evening together! That's Vienna for you! 🌟🍓☕️ »
