« Visited the Venetian museum with the oldest icons. Some of them remain only in fragments. Since Cyprus is part of the European Union, all the signs in the museum were in Greek, English, and German. Had to dust off my English skills))) »

« Nicosia is a captivating blend of the lush medieval past and the vibrant present of a modern capital. The architectural diversity of the city is showcased through a myriad of buildings that were constructed at different times and in various styles. Nicosia's architecture intertwines Eastern and Western cultures, where Greek Orthodox Christianity meets Turkish Islam. Here, the Venetian walls with Gothic elements stand alongside Turkish structures featuring characteristic domed roofs and small windows. This city presents a fascinating mix where both Western and Eastern influences shape its architecture. For instance, the Selimiye Mosque, originally built as an Orthodox church and transformed into a mosque in the 16th century, embodies the blend of French Gothic and Islamic styles.

At the heart of Nicosia, surrounded by medieval walls built by the Venetians in the 16th century, lies the old town. This area is home to the city's main attractions, including medieval buildings, ancient churches, and museums. Today, the old town is also a pedestrian zone filled with shops and souvenir stalls; artisan workshops; taverns, cafes, and restaurants catering to all tastes.

Beyond the medieval walls, Nicosia transforms into a bustling modern capital, serving as a hub of industry and trade. »

« One of the main attractions in Cyprus is the Venetian Walls in Nicosia, which are circular and feature 11 bastions that resemble a heart or an arrowhead (not quite accurate in my opinion). The Venetians were meticulous builders, but then the Ottomans came and took over the territory. They didn't bother completing anything. It's quite sad to see how it looks now – I won't even go into details. I just wished I could take some Cypriots to visit places like Nizhny Novgorod or Pskov, so they could see how things were built back in the day... »

« Today I visited the special store and café of the football club "APOEL." Every day, fans gather at the café to passionately discuss club news and games. They have a rich history. In short, they live and breathe football. »
