Binnenalster
Binnenalster sits at the heart of Hamburg, nestled just north of the historic City Hall. Dating back to the 18th century, this artificial lake was originally created to regulate water levels and provide a scenic backdrop for the city. Covering an area of about 20 hectares, it serves as both a recreational area and a picturesque setting for local events, particularly lively boat tours during the warmer months. In July and August, visitors can enjoy enchanting evening boat trips with views of the illuminated city skyline. Walk along the shores, and you might spot various bird species including swans and ducks, or simply grab a coffee from one of the many nearby cafés as you soak up the vibrant atmosphere.
