Eilenriede
Eilenriede, often referred to as Hanover's "green lung," stretches across approximately 640 hectares in the heart of the city, near the district of Marienstraße. This expansive urban forest dates back to the 18th century and is among the largest inner-city forests in Europe. Primarily serving as a recreational area, Eilenriede features numerous walking and biking paths, making it a popular escape for both locals and visitors. In March, you can spot various blooming flowers and the fresh signs of spring throughout the forest. While wandering, be on the lookout for a diverse array of wildlife, including over 60 bird species and numerous trees, some of which are several hundred years old.
