Getting Around
Bus
Vilnius buses cost €1.50 for a single ride (purchase a ticket at the kiosk or use the Vilnius City Card), covering all major neighborhoods and sights until midnight. For a money-saving hack, consider buying a 10-ride card for €12, which allows you to share rides with friends and makes hopping around the city much more affordable.
On Foot
Walking around Vilnius is free and gives you easy access to major landmarks like the Gediminas Tower and the Old Town, but be cautious on uneven cobblestone streets that can be slippery when wet. For a local experience, take the scenic route through Užupis, a quirky artsy district with charming cafes and street art.

« We just spent 2 amazing days in Vilnius! I'm really impressed by the charm of Lithuania 🇱🇹.
We visited so many interesting places... For tourists, I recommend choosing a hotel in the city center, where all the sights are within walking distance 👣.
The locals are super friendly, which makes it feel welcoming. Just a quick chat with the police officers was all it took to find out where to go and what to see. Strangely enough, they had the best tips on where to find taxis 🚕.
The food and service at all the places we ate were outstanding, regardless of the price. The staff was very attentive, cheerful, and they truly enjoy interacting with customers. It felt like we didn't just visit restaurants, but rather hung out with our friends 😊.
All in all, we're leaving Vilnius today with a desire to come back to this lovely place one more time... preferably in the summer! »
« 🌍 Planning a trip to Vilnius, wondering whether it's worth it or not? I've heard from friends who love to travel that you should definitely consider visiting. ✈️ All I can say is... you MUST go at least once in your life!
✅ Vilnius is still far from the typical tourist routes, but there's something special about it. It’s not just a place swarming with tourists; you can enjoy the sights without the usual hustle and bustle, and life here moves at a nice, relaxing pace. You’ll have plenty of time to soak in the charm of the city. ☀️🌿 »
« In Vilnius, we decided to take a trip after watching an episode from the series "Aurel and Reshka". Compared to other spots, it's quite accessible and interesting. 👌🏼
The trip was planned for 5 days, just in the city itself, without visiting the nearby areas: Trakai, Kaunas, and Klaipeda. These places are also often visited by tourists making combo-tours.
I’ll say right away - 5 days is quite a lot for just Vilnius! 🤔 I think 2-3 days would suffice. You can easily squeeze in some of the historical sites and main tourist attractions.
Now, let's talk impressions.
The city leaves warm memories, despite the chilly weather in mid-May. 😔 I really liked the cleanliness, both on the streets and in the public places, regardless of their budget. Well-kept parks and squares. 🌳
The Panorama hotel is quite budget-friendly for the center of Vilnius, and it turned out to be very cozy and pleasant. With attentive staff. Plus, the view here is truly amazing, panoramic of the old town. 👌🏼
As for the downsides, unfortunately, there’s a somewhat negative attitude from the locals toward tourists, especially with rude requests. 😶
Vilnius still holds a bit of a Soviet spirit. Regardless of how much they try to highlight the local ownership, it's still very much part of the Eurozone. 🇪🇺
Here’s what’s worth seeing and visiting:
🔼 The old town with its Catholic churches and narrow lively streets.
🔼 Užupis - a separate republic of creatives and various non-standard personalities. An interesting place—colorful, bright, and memorable.
🔼 The parks of Gediminas and the hills with bridges across the Vilnia River.
🔼 The Art Museum with its lush greenery and beautiful surroundings.
🔼 The church with a unique combination and very many key features.
🔼 And of course, the local cafes and eateries. The food here is incredibly tasty! I’ve never thought I’d become a fan of cold beet soup. 😋

« Super cold, but happy that I could visit Vilnius. Such a beautiful city, now it's on my list of places I want to return to. »
« Vilnius is a very interesting city, full of hills and slopes. I really enjoyed the fortress in Trakai. Three days here is quite enough, I had more. The borders of the old town are pretty vague, and there aren't many atmospheric places; we had dinner several times in the same spot, and prices are reasonable (Riga and Tallinn are pricier). Speaking of the festive atmosphere, Riga, Tallinn, and Prague feel much more New Year-ish. But the views are stunning, the landscape is varied, and all historical sites are in excellent condition. The fortresses are clean, warm, and well-restored. The Radisson is just superb! The photo features the constitution of the Republic of Užupis – a district known for its local bohemia, where "every cat has the right not to love its owner, but must come to their aid in difficult times." 😊 »
« In the evening, Vilnius felt quite gloomy. Dark streets, poorly maintained sidewalks, and few pedestrians. It was surprising that there was not even a hint of a Christmas market in the old town. It all felt extremely contrasting against the backdrop of a festively decorated Riga. The one bright spot was that my favorite places still serve delicious food. »
« Yes, I liked the city. Our hostel turned out to be not as terrible as I thought and was near the old town. Perhaps, I would consider going back, for example, in the summer. »
« It seems like I like Vilnius even more than Prague)) »
« I love streets like these. Vilnius left a lovely impression as a vibrant city filled with countless coffee shops, but unfortunately, I didn't have much time. I found myself looking down every now and then, hoping to stumble upon some interesting piece of wood, but alas, in Vilnius, there were no wooden treasures underfoot. Still, the city offered a sea of experiences. ☕✨ »
« I also really love that all of Vilnius is decorated with flowers, mostly the simplest ones: "dog flowers" from childhood, cornflowers, geraniums, dahlias, etc. They are all so bright and beautiful, hanging from windows and balconies, blooming along the roads, and adorning the fences and tables of all the cafes. 🌸🌼 »
« Nostalgia for Vilnius post. Everyone has the right to be unhappy. I really want to be there again, walking through those streets. It was an incredibly cozy week full of new experiences that, unfortunately, flew by too quickly. Time doesn't wait. Time, come back! »
« Today I saw Vilnius in a whole new light, and I really liked it! 😊 »
« Vilnius left a lasting impression on me, it's a fantastic city for a weekend getaway, a mix of our favorite places like St. Petersburg, a bit of Rome, a touch of Helsinki, and a hint of Stockholm... A dash of Pushkin! Vilnius is a blend of my past travels across Europe and beyond, every corner reminds me of something! There's entertainment for everyone here! I would definitely come back! »
« Vilnius left a mixed impression. »
« "Strange impressions from Vilnius, I can't say everything is bad, but there's no excitement either." »
