Ulriken Mount
Rising just south of central Bergen, Ulriken Mount is the highest of the city's seven mountains, reaching 643 meters (2,113 feet). It was originally named after the Old Norse term "Ullris," referring to the mountain’s place in local mythology. Today, it serves as a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts, with a cable car that takes visitors to the summit, where they can enjoy panoramic views of the city and fjords. The summer months, particularly June to August, see a surge of hikers exploring the various trails that wind around the mountain. While there, visitors can encounter notable flora, like the wild mountain heather, and spot various bird species that inhabit the area.
