Jet d'Eau de Genève
Jet d'Eau de Genève rises prominently on the shores of Lake Geneva, just opposite the iconic modern edifice of the Palais des Nations. Originally built in 1886 as a water outlet for the city’s hydraulic power network, this landmark has become an enduring symbol of Geneva. The fountain shoots a stream of water 140 meters into the air, making it one of the tallest fountains in the world, especially notable against the backdrop of Mont Blanc on clear days. Each year, the fountain is illuminated with colorful lights during the annual Fête de l'Escalade in December, attracting locals and tourists alike. Visitors can stroll along the lakeside promenades to catch varied views of the fountain while enjoying the vibrant atmosphere of the nearby parks and cafés.
