Getting Around
On Foot
Melbourne's public transport tram network is free within the Central Business District (CBD) and operates every 12 minutes, making it easy to hop on and off to explore attractions like Federation Square and the Royal Botanic Gardens. For a smoother journey, remember to keep an eye on the free tram zone signs to avoid accidentally traveling outside the area and incurring charges.
Tram
Melbourne trams are free to ride within the CBD and Docklands areas, operating from 5am to midnight, so hop on any tram without needing a Myki card. For longer trips beyond the Free Tram Zone, always tag on with a Myki to avoid a $100 fine—stay alert at stops to watch for the occasionally bustling tram traffic!

« Contemporary art is something else: you really have to understand whether you’re into it or not. If we’re talking about the Hayward Gallery on the 9th floor, it’s not going to be for everyone. The collection isn’t mainstream, and the reception here is not exactly welcoming. And yet, it’s like stepping into a monument of absurdity that costs about $1.2 million, aptly named "Giant Folly." Don’t ask me who the artist is; I still don’t know where to get that info. 🤷♀️ »
« In Australia, flowers bloom in summer, winter, spring, and autumn. 😏❤️ This park is just an incredible place, and it’s impossible not to fall in love with these stunning colors. 🌺 And I had my first experience seeing trees with trunks larger than my head. 😱 Walking under such giants can be a bit intimidating. By the way, entering this park is free, and I highly recommend it to everyone in the area. 💖 »
« Amazing sunset from our rooftop 😻 In Australia, when you book an apartment in a nice building and area, it often includes access to amenities like a sports lounge, basement, a rooftop with a gas grill, concierge service, and weekly cleaning. We live in one of those buildings, and last night we grilled some prawns, paired with a salad, while butterflies and dragonflies fluttered around us 🦋🪰. »
« If you’re a fan of beach getaways,🌴 then Melbourne is definitely worth the trip. The scenery here is stunning, although the beaches aren’t necessarily the strongest aspect of this city.
I had a pleasant day here just unwinding, enjoying the ocean breeze, and eventually managing to snap some memorable beach photos. 😂 »
« One of the most recognizable and visited places in Melbourne is the shacks on Brighton Beach. These colorful "bathhouses" offer a great spot to escape the scorching sun. They say one of these little shacks costs around $250,000, and there's no water or electricity in them 😆🙈. I personally love the most popular one for photos with the Australian flag 🇦🇺. »
« Pop-up shops and second-hand stores — two of the most enjoyable thrift attractions in Melbourne. 🛍️😄
With pop-ups, building friendships is easy — just carry some seeds and nuts in your pocket. Colorful parrotbirds are everywhere. 🦜✌️
And the second-hand stores offer an incredible collection of unique clothing. You’ll find everything from retro to funky, Hawaiian shirts and coats with a "retro leopard" vibe. These stores are huge, and everything is fairly priced. The items are clean and high quality. Even if you don’t buy anything, snapping a few photos and just having fun is a must. By the way, the place is usually pretty lively. Seems like all the trendy people in Melbourne hang out here. 😄
Have you ever bought something from a second-hand shop? 🔄🔄🔄 »
« In Storis, I stumbled upon a video featuring some striking photos of these yellow fluffy balls 🐥))) The Golden Wattle is the Australian golden acacia, belonging to the species of mimosa trees. The flower and shrub represent the official symbol of Australia, and a branch of acacia is depicted on the coat of arms. 🌏 Right now, it’s blooming beautifully, and those large fluffy flowers are simply stunning! 😄😍 And the mimosa is still gathering strength in the closed greenery)))) »
« I can't help but wander around every corner of my neighborhood 🌍. I just want to stroll every day, even though sometimes it feels like I’ve already seen everything. As long as the weather allows it 😉☀️. By the way, winter officially starts tomorrow 😄. It seems like it might be time for a cozy home 🍂. »
« Melbourne isn't really my vibe. So many people smoking on the streets, the river is dirty, and there's trash floating in it. »
« When we arrived in Melbourne on Monday, it was cold, gray, and dreary, but we decided not to rush things and wait it out. And now Melbourne has shown us what it's really like ^•^ We really like it; the city reminds us a bit of Minsk, a bit of London, and a bit of St. Petersburg, and it’s incredibly charming. »
« I love these sun-drenched streets with intertwining canopies. Melbourne 🌞🌳 »
« I love the weather in Melbourne! Yesterday it was hot, today it's windy, tomorrow maybe rain or something else)))) The weather never gets boring, there's always something new! »
