« 5 golden rules of hitchhiking in Germany: 1) know your route exactly, or better yet - have a map in German; 2) never stop on the highways - law-abiding Europeans won't pick you up there, and they might accidentally hit someone walking on the non-designated shoulder, especially at night; 3) a sign with writing significantly speeds up ridesharing, and if you mistakenly stand in the wrong direction, friendly Germans will stop and help you out; 4) it's best to prepare accommodation in advance - even a remote hotel near Aachen can cost around 55 dollars a night; 5) never ride with Turkish drivers: they are unfamiliar with the area and struggle with all languages except their own. »

« Mission accomplished: Paris conquered! The 9-hour bus ride flew by unnoticed, and now I just have to wait for dawn to start exploring. I had to pay 6 euros for luggage storage. Can't help but feel a bit stingy about it! 😅 »

« Honestly, the tulip season is starting here! A bouquet of 9 stems is about $15 now, but just imagine if the euro was still around $0.55 like before! $5 for a bouquet of divine tulips? I’d be gifting them to everyone I meet! 🌷😊 »

« For $26/night in a six-bed dorm room - quite nice. »

« Absolutely confusing navigation at the airport, lack of accessible information in English on how to get to the city, long wait for the shuttle and train (both at least 25 minutes), and the transport map on the tracks is the only one at the entire station.

If it weren't for a German speaker from Kazakhstan who kindly guided me to the train and helped me buy a ticket to the city center (€4.55), I would have been lost for a while.

But everything is close - from terminal 1 (for domestic flights; I arrived at terminal 2) to the city center (the central station), I reached it in just 15 minutes on that very train, which is something between our metro and a commuter train. And from the station to the hostel, it was just a short walk. »

« Bankers, the most esteemed people in Frankfurt... A typical clerk's salary is around 3,000 euros. A good income is between 5,000 and 6,000 euros. I’ve heard that in some places people earn more, while in others it’s not less.

The thing is, there are far more people earning under 1,000 dollars than there are here... 😏 »
