Taxi
Koh Samui taxis, known as songthaews, typically cost around 100-400 THB for rides between popular areas like Chaweng and Lamai, and payment is usually cash-only with no meters. To avoid being overcharged, agree on the fare before getting in or use apps like Grab for transparent pricing.
Motorcycle/Bike
In Koh Samui, moto rental costs around 200-300 THB per day, readily available in areas like Chaweng and Lamai, but ensure to inspect for damage and negotiate the price beforehand. Always wear a helmet, as local police enforce this strictly and fines can reach 500 THB if you’re caught without one.

« I absolutely love riding behind the wheel! At home, I’m driving, but in Thailand, it’s just pure joy riding a bike! There’s nothing like cruising on a good road surrounded by stunning landscapes - the sea, mountains, vibrant lush greenery, and that blazing sun! You really miss those moments... 🌅🤤🏍️ »
« Samui Island, Thailand. We basked in the sun, immersed ourselves in the uniquely warm sea, met the friendly locals, explored different parts of the island, wandered through local markets, and caught beautiful sunsets. My best February ever! 🌅✨ »
« ❤️❤️❤️
From the beach to the island, you can reach it with this kind of charm 🌴
In the morning, somewhat unnoticed, we added to our journey while fishing for little fish underwater 😄🐟🐠🐋🏄♀️ »
« Red trash. How great it is when there are no tourists around and you can calmly consider all the details. »
« Canoeing in the sloths' habitat is pure bliss. We did it only because we had already traveled to the jungle and were enchanted by these amazing creatures. I wanted to feed them bananas and get up close, but the tour purchase made those actions impossible. The tourist experience made me feel an unbelievable spectrum of emotions and solidified our belief that we're doing this for the first and last time.
Ennivey, it's also a memorable experience, and I'll cherish it. 🦥 »
« What a cozy little island 💖 Now, if we're talking about Thailand, it's all about either Pangaan or Samui. But on Phuket, I think they've really set up a nice little spot here 😍 »
« Nothing unusual, just blue rice 😄 In Thai restaurants, you often come across different types of rice preparations, and I really enjoyed the "sticky rice," which is usually served in small baskets and eaten with your hands – it’s super tasty 😋 »
« The beauty here is just mesmerizing... Palm trees, coconuts, mangoes, orchids... The ocean, the sun, the beach... The first time is exciting and breathtaking for everyone around. But as days go by, you start to adapt to this exotic vibe. While there are wonderful sights back home that can amaze anyone, you get used to the stunning beauty surrounding you and often forget to appreciate it. 🌴🌞🌺 »
« Tourists on the paths move along the stony banks of the river to the largest waterfall on the island of Samui.
Samui Island. Surat Thani Province. Thailand. »
« I loved Talin Beach! We went there again today. When we were choosing our accommodation on Samui, this area was described as wild and untouched. We took a chance and picked this spot, and we are so happy we did! Peaceful, serene, and with beautiful beaches – it’s exactly my vibe 😍. »
« The biggest mistake of this trip was coming to Sami. After the beaches of Krabi and Ko Phi-Phi, Sami turned out to be a complete disappointment 😔. That same GoA, just a view of the blocks! I would even say that the Palolem beach is way better, cheaper, and not that far away!
It turns out, not everywhere in Thailand is as heavenly as I thought and wrote about in previous posts.
When we were planning our trip, intuition suggested that maybe we shouldn’t come here? No, it still dragged us here like a pop song. So let's accept this situation, learn from the mistakes, and we will find joy 😂.
P.S. All the garbage stayed out of the frame. All the realities can be seen in the stories. »
« 🌴SAMUI🌴
My favorite island, a piece of paradise on earth. A place where the days fly by like hours, where you just can't wait to return again and again.🌏 »
« Baba Yaga and Ded Moroz. This landmark has gained worldwide fame. Why? Two scales, located side by side, remarkably resemble the male and female organs. According to one legend, a long time ago around Samui, an elderly couple perished while embarking on a round-the-world journey during the second full moon of the month. Another story is associated with a young couple in love, whose parents prohibited them from marrying, and they decided to leap from the scale together. Apparently, the landmark is incredibly unique and worthy of being called the most original on the planet among such statues, a natural wonder without human intervention.
By the way, there’s a belief in Samui: if one longs for a child but is struggling to conceive, they should visit Baba Yaga and Ded Moroz, and everything will work out. Just like on this scale, that's how it will look from that angle 😜😂. We decided not to visit Baba Yaga and Ded Moroz (no need for that 😉), but instead went to the next landmark. »
« Last year was a chill evening, and it seems like this one is the same.💙 Calm, peaceful, and so soothing. The sea was also particularly smooth, the weather was perfect without a hint of wind. And that very same beach. And the same coffee.
What a magical evening!
What a magical month!!! »
« Yesterday was a truly amazing day! We traveled around Samui Island and visited one of the most remarkable places: the Zodiac Signs. It was absolutely stunning! 💦💖✨ »
« Lamai is a classic beach, if you like to escape from the waves... or try to battle with them 😏 »
« 🏝️ Samui is considered the third largest among the islands of Thailand. It’s only surpassed by Ko Chang and Phuket.
🏝️ As for tourism, there’s everything on the island..! There are beaches with white sand, shops, banks, and plenty of activities for kids and so much more. There are also a lot of atmospheric spots with beautiful views. Of course, not everything is super cheap here.. but you can treat yourself to a cup of coffee ☕️👌🏻.
🏝️ For me, Samui feels like a true sense of freedom..😌 It’s no wonder they still call it "the Island of Freedom", because it’s impossible to feel constrained here. But honestly, if you’re active and don't just lounge like a "turtle" on the beach 🐢, renting transportation and exploring around is totally feasible.. 🚗💨💨💨. »
« Every time we come back from vacation, we say that next time we’ll go somewhere new. Yet, every single time, we return to Samui 😍
🥥 Samui is our love at first sight and always will be 💖 »
« When you're feeling happy, everything seems absolutely beautiful! Even the small things like figurines and elephants feel special. 🐘
The elephant is a sacred animal and a symbol of Thailand. Elephant figurines make for a fantastic souvenir, as they say in Thailand, the elephant brings good fortune and prosperity into your home. What do you bring back from Thailand? »
« What a beauty around! 💥 In just 2 weeks, I changed 5 hotels and visited 5 locations. 😍💪🏽 »
« The Secret Buddha Garden, located high in the hills, is a hidden gem that we reached despite the rain and the steep climbs through the jungle.
Once, a Thai man lived there who cultivated durian, but at 77 he decided to create this park-garden. It turned out to be an exceptional sculpture park, with all sorts of statues featuring Buddha, monks, and various animals, all crafted by him. He worked on his garden until the very end of his life. 🌿✨ »
« It’s been an incredible week of our journey. We’re soaking up the atmosphere, sunshine, and sea to the max. ☀️🏖️🌊🍹
This is how every winter should be spent. Just vibing with family in this warmth. ✨ »
« I fell in love with Thailand 💖🌴, especially the island of Samui. It's a truly special place to visit. The evenings here have such a captivating atmosphere, with the eastern part of the island feeling like a dream. »
« We stayed at the Ibis hotel by the seaside, but after exploring the island, we wished to live in a small, charming wooden bungalow under a palm tree. There’s so much of it here 🌴. »
« I discovered an amazing place in Samoa. I had an incredible adventure biking deep into the island, traversing the thick jungles, mud, and a complete absence of roads up to the highest peaks of the island. The total lack of people in this spot made it feel truly mysterious and magical in that moment.
P.S. Honestly, it was worth it to challenge myself on the bike. 😊 »
« Overall, this is a post about how much I enjoyed my time in Samui and how annoying this winter has been. »
« It's beautiful here 😍 »
« A month flew by unnoticed! Goodbye Koh Samui! We promise to come back! We loved it! The climate, the ocean, and everything else.. Well, except for the coconut on the car roof))) »
« Thank you, Samui, for an amazing vacation!!! We visited so many places of unreal beauty! ❤️❤️ »
« Another amazing day in Samui. Even though it's more populated, touristy, and developed compared to the neighboring islands of Phangan and Tao, I really enjoyed it here too. The key is knowing the right spots! 😊 »
« There are so many beautiful places here. Every day, I can't help but take pictures of every palm tree, beach, sky, cloud, and the sea (and it just goes on). The bright, vibrant colors definitely lift my spirits. 🌴🌊📸 »
« A bit overcast, but in Samui, there's never a dull moment, and honestly, I'm starting to think I like it here more than I expected ;) »
« This time we brought friends to Samui and enthusiastically showed them our favorite spots on the island. It's so great when someone enjoys the same things as us: nature, food, mobility, new experiences. 😊🌴 »
« We really like it here... Koh Samui is definitely better than Phuket! »
« This time we are experiencing a special pleasure from our vacation partly because there are very few tourists around us. Whether it's due to a traveler crisis, the island's characteristic that there are more snowbirds than tourists, or perhaps it's simply "the off-season in Koh Samui," whatever it is, we absolutely love it! We truly feel like we are on vacation! 😊🌴 »
