Getting Around
Metro
Munich's U-Bahn costs €2.90 for a single ride and operates frequently from 4:00 am to 1:00 am, covering central areas like Marienplatz and the Englischer Garten. To save money, consider the Day Ticket for €6.80, which allows unlimited travel on any train, tram, or bus for one day, perfect for exploring the city without worrying about multiple fares.
Tram
Munich's trams cover extensive areas, including key landmarks like Marienplatz and the English Garden, and a single ticket costs €2.90 for up to 90 minutes in the inner zone; you can purchase tickets at machines or via the MVV app. A savvy move: buy a Tageskarte (day ticket) for €7.80 if you plan on hopping on and off multiple times, which allows unlimited travel on trams, buses, and trains all day!

« Crystal Thermal Springs - what a delight we experienced spending time in this place. A few basins with thermal water, varying in composition, salinity, and temperature. After a whole day spent on the slopes of the Alps 🏔️, how nice it was to unwind in a warm basin under the open sky with water resembling that of the Dead Sea (24% salt) 🌊. Laying back, with the outside temperature at -12°️, while the basin was +37°️ 🔥. The water holds you gently, while you gaze at the magnificent mountain landscapes, breathe in the fresh air, and adore the stunning Neuschwanstein Castle 🏰, which looks amazing from here. Pure beauty! 💖 »
« The delightful name of this castle translates to "The New Swan Stone."
What’s interesting:
🏰 First, according to stories, it was inspired by the tales of Wagner after visiting this romantic place.
🏰 Secondly, you can see the castle on the 2 euro coin, issued specifically for collectors.
🏰 Thirdly, they say that Neuschwanstein Castle became the foundation for the creation of the Sleeping Beauty Castle in Disneyland in Paris.
But it’s just unbelievable!!!! How lucky we are to have seen it with our own eyes!!!😍😍😍 »
« Munich is buzzing with vibrant carnival cheer, filled with costumes, dances, and endless fun - it’s truly the grand celebration of the winter season. Local street parades and performances transform into a massive carnival, attracting both residents and tourists alike.
One of the highlights of the carnival is the "Fool's Thursday" - a day dedicated to joyful revelry. On this day, as people head to work, men adorn themselves in the most outlandish and colorful outfits, while bold and cheerful women step out, bringing with them giant scissors. Can you guess why? 😄 »
« What to eat in February - Krapfen. It’s that time of year when you can try this dessert in all its delicious variations (with fillings like chocolate, jam, or cream...) 😋 I naturally chose the "least healthy" option - but it’s just too good! 😂 If you visit in spring, they might already be gone (they take seasonal offerings very seriously here, especially after the festive pastries, it’s Krapfen time! 😉🎉 And of course, it’s Carnival season on top of that! 🎊 »
« They really did it)) I'm not a fan of pale ales, but in Germany, it's surprisingly tasty 🤤 and in some places too! The accessibility of Munich is great, and the beer restaurant is one of the most famous in the world, opened back in 1607. Hofbräuhaus — it features three halls and a beer garden. Here, up to 4,000 people can gather at once. Every MINUTE, 50 liters of beer is served in the restaurant 😳 It's scary to imagine how much happens in that time! »
« Fast breakfast in Richart and something somewhat similar to an old homeland 😢 Munich didn’t evoke in me the crazy love like Stuttgart did, for instance, but I definitely fell in love with the cleanliness, punctuality (should I mention that public transport works like clockwork?), and the easy-going nature here – no one bothers you and nobody tries to push anything on you or even simply suggest. Cool! I found the city really comfortable, even with the oncoming chill on the second day, it wasn't that scary 😵💫 dealing with transport was super easy, navigation in the city is excellent. I stayed in a superb hotel just two minutes from the main station and five minutes from Karlsplatz, super convenient for independent travelers. The size of the room was slightly larger than my height 😁
The city is affordable in the center, as expected, and transportation too, but hey, this is Germany, what do you expect? I enjoyed the local German river, such a melodic and beautiful one 😍 encountered Portuguese rivers more than five times, and only once did I spot any Brazilians 😄 pity, Munich doesn’t have a seaside escape, otherwise I would have already been organizing a trip with my guy to come here for a seaside jaunt 😅 but I still have a few days left to enjoy it here. So, those are the insights and impressions! »
« Impressive sizes of the palace 😱 in the photo, seemingly just three, if not four. The exterior is beautifully adorned, unlike our palaces, but what I experience inside will be revealed in the next post in Munich 💖. It's definitely worth returning, my first impression turned out to be misleading. And it's better in the summer! »
« Here is a beautiful view from the rooftop of an apartment in Munich, with the sky a deep blue that delighted us today for just about half an hour. 🌤️ »
« München 💖
Once, on this square, there was a little fountain, and it was so cool; I really loved it! 🍧 »
« Walchensee in winter 😇😇😇
That moment when you drive by a magnificent lake, but alas, there’s no time to stop. 😱😱 I made sure to bookmark this spot because it’s absolutely essential to visit. 🤗🤗🤗 »
« The most amazing experience in Munich: winter wonderland in January 🌳 That feeling when you fall into a fairy tale about the 12 months! 😍 »
« Only now do I realize that in all the cozy places, there is a lantern in my opinion in the photos 😄. Beautiful, cozy, and undeniably warm ☺️. »
« "München ❤️ I love this photo because it creates an illusion of movement and a bigger crowd, even though the places in Munich can actually be quite calm and tranquil. I used to think it would get boring quickly, but no - you get used to it.
So, do you prefer Munich to be big or small? Quiet or noisy? Peaceful or what?" »
« I have my favorite restaurants in Munich, and there are definitely some tourist spots too :) Most of the people who come to visit want to experience a place that is vibrant and full of rich history. Every corner here holds an interesting story. It's also well-known that various famous figures, including Lenin and Hitler, have frequented these places.
As for the food... the beer (which is just outstanding everywhere), a selection of sausages, and other traditional dishes are a must-try.
And just look at this photo - it’s a soup that feels nothing like the traditional Bavarian one served with bread. 🍺🥨 »
« I'm really happy with Munich! I've been there three times, and I still can't believe I haven't reviewed it yet 😄!!! It's all so lovely, they really know how to make you feel welcome 😍😆 The weather is great for walks, way more comfortable than in some other places 🌞 and everything is so delicious, especially the food 🥨, but I still find myself longing for the sea 😂❄️ »
« A little getaway, huge impressions! 😃 We decided to escape from the daily grind for a few days and change the scenery. ✈️ Munich greeted me with its vibrant sunshine (which, by the way, is something I definitely needed 😩), delicious sausages and cheese from the local market 🤤, the tastiest beer (if Sasha doesn't mind me saying, given that I'm not really a beer lover 😏) and stunning architecture. 😍 Well, what can I say, it all started pretty well! »
« Korymta, of course, is absolutely amazing here 🤩🤤 You can't even start to talk about the beer 🍺! It's definitely artisanal 😏 »
« The name "Munich" comes from the German word "Mönch", meaning "monk." In the place where the future capital of Bavaria would be, there used to be a monastery. Like many major German cities, Munich was heavily destroyed during World War II and rebuilt anew. The city has a standard European appeal and charm. I think, on sunny days, impressions from it are even brighter. Before it still shines! 😊 »
« "Surfers in the center of Munich - a breathtaking sight. This spring, these local guys left us with an unforgettable impression. That's why we decided to visit Munich specifically to see for ourselves that even in winter, they catch waves on the Eisbach River. And it’s true! Although early in the morning, we didn't encounter anyone on the river, we were lucky to catch them on our way back. This is definitely something you need to see in Munich." »
« Munich)) With each visit, I like it more and more))) »
« Munich is a wonderful city that changed my perception of Germany. It's a place you want to return to, or rather, never leave. 😊 »
« Munich is truly a standout: it has a magnificent old cathedral, the town hall is ridiculously Gothic and wonderfully preserved, all the ground floors of the old buildings sparkle with shopfronts and cafes, the grass is green, the sun is shining, they had the Olympics here, the BMW museum, and some of the most famous breweries are right in the city... not to mention Oktoberfest and Bavarian sausages, but I’ll leave that for another time. Overall, it’s a great place! 😊🌞 »
« The last weekend of Oktoberfest. The city was literally buzzing for these three weeks. Tons of drunk tourists, packed trains filled with ladies in dirndls and guys in lederhosen. It was common to see swaying or unconscious people being tended to by paramedics, and the subway platforms were covered in messes. But despite all this, it’s truly a fun festival with tons of great attractions, rides, caramel apples, and a unique atmosphere 😊 Honestly, I haven’t seen such madness in a long time, even though other places can get wild too 😃 »
« The more I visit Munich, the more I want to return... »
« Munich! I really like Germany, even despite its "charming" weather! 😄 »
« Well, don’t think I spent two whole days just searching for an apartment... actually, finding a place in Munich is quite tough, and it turns out transportation can be a bit tricky too. But all these minor inconveniences fade away when you experience the beauty of the city and the delicious Bavarian cuisine. We could talk about beer for ages! It’s so refreshing to not have to rush around trying to see everything at once like you usually do when traveling. This city definitely feels like the perfect place to live (which is probably why everyone flocks here). »
« We absolutely love Munich and were thrilled to be back there again. »
« Munich ❤️ I want to go back there.. »
« Oktoberfest was a letdown... Crowds of people, long lines just to enter the pavilion, then another queue to get inside, high prices, drunk teenagers sprawled on the pavement. Honestly, it feels like it could be better than some music festivals. The only highlight was the traditional costumes that almost everyone was wearing. 😔😱😟 »
« There are places in Munich's center that not many know about, where it's so nice to be in peace and enjoy the beautiful architecture. »
« Munich charmed us, and I fell in love with the German language. ❤️ »
« The main character of the Munich mise-en-scène. I think it’s worthy competition against a tacky coconut with a straw in front of the sea! »
